Comparing 2022 Early Admission rates with 2021, and the 2021 class enrollment size. Note that QuestBridge numbers are included in the Acceptances numbers. For applicants not using the QuestBridge program, the admit rate would be slightly lower.
As the ED2 decisions will soon be released, I have added some additional rows for schools that typically release data when their ED1 and ED2 processes are all complete.
It is no longer a surprise that admission rates keep declining, due to the constantly increasing number of applications (for a constant number of spots). The trend I am keen to follow is how much more of the class each ED school is filling during the ED process to increase its yield. So far, every school which has released data - except Penn and Middlebury - has increased its ED intake. If the trend holds, the RD rates will inevitably decline sharply (more applicants each year, but fewer RD spots). To cite an extreme case, the Chicago RD admit rate was in the 2-3% range for the class of 2021.
