How do professional school students afford living expenses?
I'm an optometry student struggling to pay rent and other bills. I didn't get any help from my parents throughout undergrad and I worked full-time up until this point because through this program we're not able to hold a job. Because I didn't get help and was living on my own it was pretty much impossible to save anything. I managed to save a few thousand but had to put it all into my move to the new school and rent deposit. I was only given $3000 in student aid and I'm not even sure if my loans will cover the cost of tuition. I've applied for tons of scholarships and grants but haven't gotten any. How do other people afford it? I can't even get approved for a private loan.20 replies
