Does anyone know about the reputation of Western Washington University, Washington State University, and the University of Washington, for pre-med undergrads getting to medical school? Also, do you know if Western Washington or Washington State are considered party schools? One of my friends wants to go to UW for pre-med, but she's pressured by her parents not to go there, because they say that getting an A from an academically 'easier' school will be better for getting into med school than worse grades at the Univ. of Washington, which supposedly has a harder curve because of really competitive students messing up the curve.

WWU is an up and comer. At least one science program, Biology (marine) has been nationally recognized. WSU has a great record in med school placement. Lots of UW med students did their undergraduate work at WSU, which is saying something because UW Med admissions is famously hard. And don't forget that residents from several western states get an advantage in UW Med admissions because of a regional compact.

University of Washington has a lot of the same difficulties that most large public universities do for pre-meds- A's are not as freely given out in the earlier courses. Furthermore, with the minions of premeds entering sciences, they use "weed out" courses to eliminate many of these students and send them running to pre law. Washington University is very highly respected in the profession. If I were going to college and weren't considering anything but academic reputation, Wash U would be the right place to go of the three that you mention.

^ Wash U is a private school in MO, isn't it? The OP is comparing three WA state schools.

WSU does have a party school rep but, in any big school you can party any night of the week if that is what you want. WWU has a quieter feel than both.
