what's the economics department like?

I’m a double major here with econ and applied math - the econ department is very strong in my opinion. It is a smaller department than most, but it was ranked somewhere (Chronicle of Higher Education, or something) as having the 4th best program per faculty member so that should say something about the quality of the program. Most economics majors will take elements of macro and micro, stats, calculus their freshman year and macro theory and micro theory in the sophomore year and then there is a ton of flexibility for field courses (which you generally start taking sophomore year). Let me know if you have any specific questions or concerns.
