The OP previously stated that he isn’t interested in these awards (it seems that he qualifies for Excelsior) because he doesn’t want to stay in NY after graduation...and he would have to work there for a few years. SUNY appears to be affordable without Excelsior if he takes the $5500 student loan and works during summers.

Nick...you are dealing with a family budget (many are) and it is time for you to find affordable schools. It seems you are hyper focused on prestige...that may or may not work out for you. You need financial and admissions safeties.

@sybbie719 I know the STEM award requires students to stay in NY and work after graduation.

But does the Excelsior have this same requirement?

@nickthekid again I ask...what is your twin doing about all of this college searching and funding. Having two kids in college at the same time for four years has the potential to be financially staggering for some families. Please sit down and discuss this with your family.

    Thank you @sybbie719

It makes sense. The state I’d giving incentive money...and really that’s a great thing. I wish our state did this.
