Transferring from a US community college to Mcgill University??

Hey guys!!

Is this possible coming from a community college after 1 year?
Or would it be better if I attend an american private university then transfer?

Does going to a US community college give off a bad rep? If say I do extremely well with a 3.6+ gpa or whatever during my freshman year of CC??

Preferably Faculty of Management!

I really want to study business at McGill(as an international student), since my high school grades aren't great(average around the 76%), I was also thinking maybe I could study at a college in Montreal for a year or two and then transfer to McGill.
I know this system is popular on the other parts of Canada, but does it work in Quebec as well?

No hate please.

If you go to a CC (or CEGEP as called by the locals) in Montreal then make sure you spend both years at that college and make sure you have a 29+ R-score by application time. Should you go that route you're not considered a transfer; you'll enroll in U1 at whichever faculty you choose.

As to why I gave 29+ as a target R-score, it's, in fact, what could get you into Faculty of Management. Essentially, the R-score acts as a composite measure that encompasses both GPA and rank.

What happens if I just attend a community college here in the US? Would that be fine? or would my chances of getting in decrease?

I was thinking about going to a private university or a state university and just stay there for 1 year then transfer to Mcgill

Personally you'd be just fine at 3.6+; the 25-75% ranges from 3.3-3.7.
