I am in 9th grade now, so I will be in 10th grade next year at my local public. I am going to apply as a 10th grade repeat next year.

There are no good day schools where I live that offer enough FA.

got into lawrenceville, taft, hotchkiss, choate and groton.......narrowed it down to choosing between choate and groton......any ideas anybody???

I'd go for Groton :p. I'm a little biased though. But seriously, what do you like to do? Do you want to go to a smaller school? I don't know much about Choate but I'll be going to Groton next year. It was an easy choice for me because I always liked Groton even though I was accepted elsewhere. Mabye you should go to revisits and then make a list before and after of what you like about each school?

hey - thanks for answering....i like theater, debate, MUN......I'm not sure if a small school environment will be good for me or a big school....my parents are now saying that I should go for revisits.....when do you join? which other schools did you get into?...and why was groton an easy choice?

If theatre is your primary interest, there may be no better BS than Choate. The list of Choate alums now starring in film and stage are incredible. If debate drives you, then look again at Hotchkiss. It is quite renown in this area. But debate and theatre aside, if your final selections are Groton and Choate, then Groton appears stronger in such critical elements as endowment per student, college placements, SAT's, etc.

going for revisits now...hotchkiss and choate clash - can only do one...my cousin has got into choate - he is waitlisted at groton.....i like doing all the other extracurricular stuff (debate, theater, MUN, music) and my worry is - i hope groton doesn't turn out to be a school which is so academic that is does not allow me any time to pursue my extracurriculars...this decision is turning out to be tougher than I thought...your'e right - groton has better SAT scores and better placements....choate's location is better (closer to NYC)...groton is a bit difficult to get to.....so still confused

Choate seems a better fit for you- Good theater, It seems like it would have good debate, I think my interviewer or somebody said they had good MUN.....* (correct me if I'm wrong) and its pretty! ;)

I got everything but my test scores there on time, I should hear back from them in 3-7 days. I'm praying I get in. I've wanted to go there since I was little. I heard that they give generous amounts of FA. About 40% of the student receive some amount of aid. I applied for aid too.

Groton's close to Boston, personally I think that because it's a small school you'll get more opportunity for ECs because there isn't as many people competing for EC spots. Also I know that you can exchange a term of sport for theatre if that's what you wanted. I debate and Grotons oldest club is Debating, I heard that they have open student debates at school as well as competitively. ANd Rad the interviewer is hardly impartial about whether or not Choate has a good MUN! :p.. I was just reading the viewbook (again I know hardly impartial) and it talked about because of Grotons size you didn't have to choose between being a scholar, a musician or an athlete. Good Luck on your choice! I may see you at revisits. I was Accepted at Hotchkiss and Groton, WLed at DA and SPS with no rejections...

got into exeter, then waitlisted at deerfield and rejected by andover.
i feel like exeter admitted out of pity or something, and i dont feel accomplished because of the WL and R.....i know people usually dont get into multiple places but it still gives me a weird feeling. exeter was my first choice thankfully :D

With the number of kids applying to bs this year, I doubt that exeter admitted anyone out of pity.

I know DA almost half its size and the issue of last year's over enrollment of freshman girls made them cut back in every class, boys and girls.

If exeter was your first choice and you got in, be happy and greatfull many kids were not selected anywhere.
