QuestBridge Questions

As a junior, I was considering my options in regard to QuestBridge next year. I think it is an amazing opportunity, especially since it will be extremely difficult for me to attend college without major financial aid; however, I have a few questions.

1. Hypothetically, if I was accepted as a finalist, what are the pros and cons of ranking?

2. When do you find out if you have been matched or not? If you have not been matched, is there enough time before EA deadlines to apply EA to non-partner schools outside the QuestBridge app? Are you allowed to apply EA to other schools outside QuestBridge's partners if you have not been matched?

3. Is it really all that uncommon for non URM students to be matched?

Thanks for you help.

I don't know all the in's and out's but here is what I gather:

    1. Pro - colleges take a look at you extra early, like ED because they know you are committing if matched it may give you a bit of an edge, a few are not binding

Con - you won't be able to apply to non QB colleges unless not matched, you can't get multiple offers and decide later

    2. You are not allowed to apply ED, EA or SCEA to non QB colleges (exception is nonbinding home state college, or for scholarship deadline college, or rolling admissions.) You do get your results early from what I have seen. You can apply RD to any college if you are not matched.

    3. that does not appear to be true

Finalists have more of an edge if you were to apply to a non-partner college for RD.it's like ED but for up to 8 colleges. Match recipients were notified on December 2nd this gear in the afternoon.
