Yes, it's usual to get a request for the midterm transcript for ED, EA. And final transcripts are usually requested too. Gotta make sure the kid graduated from high school.

@janes2019 - last year Owl Days began on Wednesday afternoon and ended on Friday afternoon. I do not have the schedule for last year, but our flight landed at Hobby at 3 pm or so on Wednesday, and we left on a 5:30 pm flight on Friday. There are many activities for the prospective students Wednesday evening, so Wednesday would be the best arrival date. Prospective students are matched with a host on Wednesday and Thursday nights, but not Friday night.

My daughter's host texted her a few days before Owl Days, and met her at the Sallyport/in the quad when she arrived.

Two people in the admitted student FB group have called admissions and said that Owl Days are the 11-12. No Wednesday this year :(

Good info - and a good reason to wait until tomorrow to book tickets!

Is there something similar to Owl Days for transfers?

Transfers participate in O Week (orientation) in August with all of the other new students.

very late but I got accepted under ED and wanted to share in case this helps other people!! this is what is on my application (I have more and things have changed but it's not on my application so I don't think it would help)

    SAT I: 1570 (800 Math 770 EBRW 19 Essay)
    ACT: 35 (Math 35 Science 36 Reading 33 Eng 35 Writing 8)
SAT II: Biology E 620, Math II 770
    Weighted GPA: 4.8684/5
    Rank: 4/669
AP: Human Geography(4), World History(4), US History(4), English Language and Composition(4), Chemistry(4), Computer Science Principles(5), Calculus BC(4) Calculus AB Subscore(5), United States Government and Politics, Macroeconomics, Statistics, Environmental Science, English Literature and Composition
Senior Year Course Load: United States Government and Politics, Macroeconomics, Statistics, Environmental Science, English Literature and Composition, Computer Science 2, Digital Electronics, Calculus 3
Major Awards: AP Scholar with Distinction, National Merit Commended Scholar

Extracurriculars: Ecology Club (9th member, 10th VP, 11th and 12th President), NHS (11th member 12th VP), my school's engineering program, college readiness programs, Cofounded two clubs at my school and I am VP of one and Secretary of the other
Volunteer/Community service: I was a TA for a Vietnamese class, Girl Scout
    Summer Activities: Externed at Weatherford
Essays: This is what I really wanted to talk about. I wrote one of my essays (the 500 word one) about VIDEO GAMES! With examples, I wrote about the importance of teamwork and trusting others with one video game and the challenging puzzles and "thinking outside the box" lessons I learned from another. I think this balanced my heavily academic application with something more relaxed!
Other essays: My personal statement focused on accepting my identity as an Asian American after a trip to my parent's home country. My intended major essay is about why I want to pursue CompSci and the Rice experience essay used my time from SOAR and used specific examples like the Shepherd School of Music and the study abroad programs they have at Rice.
Teacher Recommendations: One was my Calculus teacher that I had my junior and senior year. She really respects her Cal 3 students for returning lol so I think her rec was pretty good 9/10 and the other was my CompSci teacher that I had my junior and senior year and I was very friendly and nice with him and when I told him I wanted to pursue CompSci he was introducing opportunities to me so I think he likes me 8/10
Counselor Rec: Was pretty good!! 9/10
Box submission: I submitted a picture of a project I did in my CompSci Principles class. It was a program that made a pixel art of a dog and I chose this because it was cute and it showed my code in the picture as well

State (if domestic applicant): Houston TX!
    Ethnicity: Asian, not Hispanic
    Gender: F
    Income Bracket: between $20,000-40,000
Contacts: I did an on-campus interview, attended open houses, so many campus tours, signed up on college fairs, did SOAR where I also attended classes, information sessions, and stayed overnight, and I know students and alumni

I got a full ride with need-based but seeing my very qualified (and arguably more qualified) friends get rejected and waitlisted with ED and RD makes me worry about whether I am good enough for Rice. But I got accepted so hopefully this goes away soon

@nhnil If you were accepted you are smart enough to be there. My daughter felt the same way, especially coming from a public school with many kids at Rice coming from big name boarding schools. She ended up on the President’s honor roll this first semester so she feels great now! You obviously know how to work hard and study, keep that ethic and you’ll fit right in. During O-week they’ll talk about imposter syndrome, how many kids feel exactly the way you do. Rice is a very inclusive place and you’ll do great!!!
