Senate Page Program Questions

Hello y'all,

I am a sophomore with a huge interest in Political Science and am considering applying to the Senate Page Program for 2019. I know it's super early, but I either want to pursue this program or forget about it. I don't really want to do the summer sessions because I feel it will be too short for such an opportunity. I would do the Fall session but I won't be 16 by the time the program probably starts.

So i'm confined to the Spring session, and for that I have a few questions that I hope a former page can answer:

1. Are you excused for AP exams? My school has a major system and virtually all majors have quite a few APs. If possible, I would like to take the exams.
2. About when does the program end? New York state has Regents exams in mid-June, I would preferably like to be back in time for those exams and not take the late exams in August.
3. When are you informed of the decision?

Thank you!

Fall program starts usually between 9/6-9/10. Looking at the calendar for 2018, my guess would be the Fall session will begin Monday 9/10 though that won't be certain until the Senate calendar is released.

    1. Classes are taught to AP standards. Many students take AP exams through the Page School.
    2. Program generally ends at the end of the first week of June.
    3. That question can never be answered easily. I was notified about 5 weeks before my report date to DC. It will all depend on the sponsoring senators' office. Also, you will want to ensure that potential sponsoring senators are attempting to sponsor pages for the term you are applying for. Most senators do not sponsor a page every term. There are some senators (like my sponsor) who sponsored Males in one term and Females in the other, so that is also a consideration. Unfortunately, very few thing in this process will be up to you! Summer is certainly better than nothing if that ends up being the only option for your potential sponsor. Feel free to DM with any additional questions.

What classes are offered at the page school? Is there a good variety or is it limited? I'm just curious to see how the credits transfer over
