Update-- I assume that UP didn’t get the drop off of students by July 1st as they were thinking, and they didn’t get the number they wanted to go to a branch, so they told a student sorry no room, you have to go to a branch with $10K. Now this is what they are saying ( not sure if parent told the student that). With that if it is true, that the supplemental housing is full too. With the influx of students, and the room they have to save for the additional 1+3 students the year after, they already said they are accepting less next year. So the admission standards are going to escalate. A rumor not sure if true is that they let go over 100 employees due to this error.
crazycat220 I would be very surprised if they are telling any student that they have to go to a branch campus if they have already been accepted at the UP campus. My guess, if someone thinks that, they either misunderstood or the parents are fudging the information so that they can save the $$. They cannot legally rescind admission for no reason if it was given accurately to begin with. I’m not sure they fired people…I think the Collegian or Onward State would be all over that if it did happen. But, then again, I haven’t really researched those outlets either.
I also think we would be hearing it all over if they were rescinding acceptances due to their error. My feeling is this is a rumor and untrue.
Did not hear that they will be accepting less students next year. After this years nonsense. It makes sense.
