Your counselor could note your parental health issue. Perhaps an essay topic comes from dealing with it but not necessarily.

In the end, students control a lot. So be the best you. That means ensuring you understand content and not moving past if you don’t.

What you don’t control, however, is the decision making of the school.

So aim high but have that assured because even the best and brightest do get told, we are sorry but we cannot admit you.

Step one is actually determining a budget. Have your parents give you a budget. In theory, that should be in most cases between $20k and $100k per year. X 4.

Have that discussion at some point. That needs to happen before naming any schools.

Is it possible to have the grade changed to a P(ass)? If it is, this is what I’d suggest, so that your GPA is not affected. My kid’s school recommends doing that for grades below a B.
