My wife’s engagement ring features an Alexandrite stone, so we’ll be keeping an incandescent bulb or two around our house so we can see the pretty purple side of the stone’s color.
Public libraries have computers for use.
I thought blackouts meant you couldn’t watch a certain sporting event on TV because it didn’t sell out in the arena! 
Re: College textbooks … my SIL is an elementary school teacher in Georgia, and they don’t have ANY textbooks. Everything - and I mean everything - is done on computer or whiteboard. Maybe I am a dinosaur, but that bugs me. I suppose it shouldn’t, but it does.
Personally, I’ve always liked physical books–how you can save your spot, turning the pages, etc. it doesn’t give me the same feeling to use ebooks. I’m sure it’s better for students not to have to carry piles of have texts, but still, not the same.
