101 Reasons to attend the University of South Carolina

Learning to associate the color orange with rude behavior - while this is not a good reason to decide to attend USC, it is basic to understanding the Carolina/Clemson rivalry.

GottaPayTheBill has just provided an example of what to expect.

Is Webbie really President Sorensen? I could have sworn that was the exact thing he said during the McNair weekend.

Sorry to disappoint. I saw it on their News Web site.

Congrats on your McNair, IdRatherBe. Are you accepting it?

Because it’s not in New Jersey!!! (as only a Jersey Mom can say)

That was the number 1 reason to attend W&M when I was there in the early 80’s!

I swear that it seemed like half the school was from NJ, and it’s a public university in VA.

Thanks. I don’t know yet. I’m waiting to here from some other schools.

I only counted 35. But anyway, here’s a recap…

1) International Business at Moore!!!
2) Awesome weather!!!
3) Southern Hospitality
4) Strom Fitness Center
5) Great events by student activities - concerts, musicals, cool speakers ( think Family Guy character voice actor), and too many events to fit in!
6) Have you seen the fitness center and gorgeous outdoor pool???
7) Learning Communities, especially International Community, Spanish House and Capstone Scholars.
8) Proximity to Charleston and the mountains.
9) S would say Moe’s Southwestern Grill… good cheap burrito’s right off campus.Especially cheap on Monday’s.

35) Because it’s not in New Jersey!!! (as only a Jersey Mom can say)
36) Great scholarships.
37) Honors College.

38) Mr Friendly’s restaurant. Really yummy.
39) The real interest shown by the school in having my S attend. The “we try harder” attitude. UVA and W & M in our state couldn’t care less if you apply or not!

Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear…what to do? Not 100% positive, but I think my daughter was accepted into UDel…which is the holy grail among “B grade” kids not going to Ivy’s or other top private universities from the NY/NJ area. We didn’t get package yet, just the ability to log into the system as an “accepted student”…so that might just be a fluke.

Anyway, I had my heart set on USC for her, and she was 95% positive too…but the Udel thing is tempting. No money from either school, but Udel is not even 3 hours from home, and 3 hours from her older friends at a private university in PA. USC is an 11-12 hour ride.

Daughter needs a big university (both USC and Udel fit the bill)…

What to do???

Well both schools are chickens, but Gamecocks sounds better than Blue Hens! hehehehehee

Seriously, that’s a tough choice, I am glad we got some money from USC. That made the decision easy for us.

40) A school that is really trying hard to improve and seems to really care
41) All day tailgating before football games
42) Five Guys Burgers and Fries
43) Garibaldi’s (great Italian food in Five Points)
44) Top Four Sport Management program (many rank it #1)

They have 5 guys in Columbia? Awesome.

45) Just a couple hours to the beach OR the mountains.

if you call those mountains!

just teasing

Did anyone mention that little cafe/restaurant on the horseshoe that is run by the hotel management students (I think that is who runs it) that serves outrageous lunches for a song (very inexpensive) with sweet tea or lemonade? We thought that was a great little place.

thats the Grill at the McCutcheon House, its only open in the summers (upstairs restaurant open all year)
Thats where, last year during their Orientation visit, H and S ate lunch,H didnt have cash, they don’t take credit cards…he was going to go to a cash machine, and the lady in charge wouldnt take cash from S and said…that’s okay honey you just pay us next time…LOL
