2 nights in Paris! Recommendations please!

Remember to say hello and goodbye when going in and out of a store. it is rude to not do so. We also took a day trip to Loire Valley but that is probably for another trip.

I have some merrell sandals, that are so comfy. But my problem is my feet.

I can read French better than I speak it but I do remember how to say Bonjour Monsieur/Mademoiselle/Madame and au revoir! :)

Haven’t read all the posts, but I will second the recommendation of the Rodin museum. Would also recommend Impressionist Museum and for dinner, Cafe Constant – I think it’s in the 7th arondissement.

You all have such great info! Thanks!

My rooms are booked! We were able to get a family and friends discount so we are staying at The Marriott Champs Elysees! So excited! So far I have my flight arranged, rooms in London, Eurostar train tickets from London to Paris and back and then a night around Heathrow before our early return flight. Have been busy trying to arrange a reasonable itinerary for both cities.

In Paris I want to see:
Eiffel Tower
Evening River cruise timed to see the Tower sparkling!
Louvre
Notre Dame
Sainte-Chappelle
Sacre Couer
Musee d’Orsay
Musee de l’Orangerie
A Chocolate walk

Whew! I am sure we will have to prioritize and drop some things but that is the list we are starting with.

montmarte, and tuilleries?

Wow, that beats all the “hippies” choices a la QL by a mile and a half! On your extensive list, I’d like to suggest to add a visit to Fauchon for lunch or a snack since it will be in walking distance to your hotel and many of the tourist traps/attraction, and on your way to the Galeries Lafayette on Blvd Haussman. A simple baguette au jambon is … divine!

Fauchon is on the Place de la Madeleine:
[url=http://www.fauchon.com/]Epicerie fine - panier cadeau - traiteur

I didn’t add the Tuileries or Luxembourg but I know we will stop there! Oh…and macarons at Laduree! And ice cream at Berthillon! ;)

xiggi…I am excited about the rooms! We got all of our nights in London free through rewards points and the rooms in Paris almost 75% off! This allows me more shopping and a better eating budget! Thanks for the link!

Given where you are staying, you might consider adding the Arc de Triomphe, which is open until 10:30 p.m. in October (last entry might be 1/2 hour before)and just a short walk down the street from your hotel. The views from the top down the Champs Elysees and over to the Eiffel Tower are beautiful, and it’s covered by the Museum Pass.

You’ll cover the Tuileries if you walk between the Louvre and the Orangerie, and see Montmartre if you visit Sacre Couer.

My Paris tip: Don’t worry about bringing an umbrella. If you are in a tourist area and it rains, like magic, all the souvenir salesmen instantly shift into umbrella sales! (it rained during most of our trip this spring)

What site are you most drawn to ~ The Louvre, Tour Eiffel, The Champs Elysee? Pick a hotel close to the site (others too) that excites you the most. You only have 2 nights ~ make sure you get to walk by it often. I’d read Trip Advisor dot com thoroughly. But the point is make it your own ~

NM, whereever I go, I tell myself that I will be back. It’s a nice psychological trick - it puts me in a more relaxed frame of mind than if I’m telling myself it’s a “trip of a lifetime.” Less pressure. So, if you find that you would prefer to sit and people watch over coffee and pasty instead of fitting in that one last museum, you can tell yourself that the museum will be there the next time you go.

I have to go back or D2 would kill me! She wants to go so bad!

Just got moved to Marriott Renaissance Arc de Triomphe because we had three to a room. Still looks good to me with a wonderful discount! The neighborhood not as crazy busy and a bit quieter. Now I just need to figure out how to get from Gare du Nord to the hotel! :)

I haven’t read the thread to see if this has been recommended but if not:

[Paris Museum Pass | Official Website](http://en.parismuseumpass.com/)

Get this pass. You get to cut a lot of lines although maybe that’s not a problem in Oct. It was esp helpful at the Louvre (use the group entrance under the North wing, never a wait or a line), Musee d’Orsay and I think the L’Orangerie also.

We love city passes.

Just got back from 4 amazing days in Paris. Didn’t end up doing Louvre (very hard decision), gonna save that for another trip. Highly recommend Musee d’Orsay. L’Orangerie is not that worth it imho, there’s very little to see and we got out in 30minutes, nice selection of Monet though.

Didn’t like Champs Elysees much; a bit of a tourist trap and you can buy all the brands elsewhere. But the view from Arc De Triomphe was fantastic so that is worth it!

Both Eiffel tower and Notre Dame are amazingly beautiful and impressive. Definitely see the eiffel at night all lit up.

Montemare district-lots to see, including Sacre cour. Go before it’s dark.

Loved walking in parisian neighborhoods- st germaine and le marais

Thanks tienny!

NorthMinnesota - follow this link from your hotel website. Looks pretty simple - though without looking at a station map there is a good chance you might have a longer walk within Gare du Nord to get to line 2.

Last minute prep this week! Hope the debt ceiling/default negotiations settle before we leave on Thursday. Wonder if that would make the exchange rate fluctuate??? Need to pick up some currency at bank today so I have a small amount on hand. My broken toe still hasn’t healed so I am picking up an othopedic shoe/boot. So much for my stylish appearance! So excited!

If you have a couple of days, take the train to Versailles. You can spend quite a bit of time there. Make sure you take the tram at Versailles over to Marie Antoinette’s estate. I enjoyed all of that more than the palace itself.
