<p>well, I wouldn’t give up all hope. Yes, they’ve called all the initial acceptances, but I was told that they normally do not call those who are waitlisted. Tehy called one girl for MT who was at the top of the waitlist a couple days ago and told her she had been accepted. So the calls they made a couple weeks ago were the acceptances; the calls this week were to ppl on top of the waitlist. But people who are lower on the waitlist do not know yet! Therefore, there is still a (very small) chance!</p>
<p>Also, I think it’s silly to think people would get in and not be called when 25 people (according to the facebook group for CMU Drama '11) HAVE been called and told they were in. It would appear that the people initially accepted have been called, and there would be no reason to send someone an acceptance letter and not a call when so many others have been called.</p>
<p>It is just frustrating that the admissions people at CMU wouldn’t tell the truth. Obviously they have called everyone…</p>

<p>Well, although CMU isn’t looking too good for me, I’ve gotten some more acceptance letters: </p>
<p>Rutgers, BU, and -just found out online- UCLA (and UCSD and UCSB, but I didn’t audition for those schools; I just applied for the theatre dept.)</p>
<p>Also, for Otterbein, I didn’t realize that there’s a theatre department as well, but in any case, I’ve actually been admitted for the “acting BFA”, not theatre BFA (I suppose that’s the case in the other places I’ve been accepted to if that’s an option)</p>
<p>I’ve already decided to let some places go early (esp. keeping in mind about people on waitlists!), but for many it’s a hard, hard, hard choice! I’ll be doing some more hard-core research, but eventually -when I’ve boiled it down- I’d love to hear other people’s opinions on this forum (esp since it’s helped me sooooo much so far!) and I’ll be asking the questions then!</p>

<p>I am not possitive, but I am pretty sure from what they said at the audition that Emerson won’t consider you for a Ba if you aren’t accepted for the Bfa program.</p>
<p>To the person deciding between NYU and Ithaca, I would seriously consider going to Ithaca. It really depends on what you want from a university. NYU is very large and getting personal attention will probably be harder then at Ithaca. Also look at the senior showcase. For NYU, my understanding is that they only allow 30 in the senior showcase. However, there are 300 people in the senior class. When I choose my university I will want a place that personally cares about me and my career after I graduate. It is my opinion that you will feel more personally nurtured in a place like Ithaca then NYU. At NYU you might just get lost in the shuffle. Please understand that this is just my opinion. </p>

<p>I think the theatre BFA at Otterbein refers to their tech degree (for which Dr. John explains the graduates have 100% job placement rate). The acting BFA is for performance. Both are in the Theatre Dept.</p>

<p>travellinghopefully - I had emailed Emerson with this same question. They told me that they do not usually consider people for a second major. However, if this helps…my older D did not get into Emerson’s BFA MT program two years ago but did get in as a transfer to the BA Theater Studies program in her sophomore year. I was told that Emerson is very “transfer friendly.” (She decided to stay where she was though.)</p>
<p>Has anyone received a denial letter from CMU acting? The decision spot is still blank on the applicant page.</p>
<p>Our s. got accepted to those schools too but only audition at Webster. We’re guessing he was rejected because they called yesterday to ask for his audition fee, five weeks after the audition!</p>

<p>not sure I understand why that would cause you to think he is being rejected. Many schools can not send out acceptances until all required items are accounted for. You’d be surprised how many kids don’t get accepted simply because they didn’t fill out their applications for academic acceptance.</p>

<p>I would like to publicly thank and acknowledge Soozievt for all of her assistance to me and my D when we were compiling our list of colleges. If it weren’t for her, we probably wouldn’t have considered Pace or Montclair State, the two audition-based schools that my D has gotten into so far.</p>
<p>She not only provided expert advice via College Confidential but she also always replied to my personal emails as well, often at great length.</p>
