***2008 Appeal Decisions***

yeah, I thought that was understood by most students but apparently not. I’ve seen some poster posted that they responded to 2 SIRs.

Also one student posted that he got rejected from Penn state honors(not even waitlisted) but he sent in additional information and just got in. It’s definitely very encouraging news.

RE: Penn State
According to an article posted elsewhere Penn State had 52,283 applications, but admitted 41,335. It did not state how many were selected for the Honors Program.

well penn state is tricky…because penn state main campus probably had 52,000 apps but they probably only admitted 20,000 or something. then the remaining 20,000 were satellite campus’d

“The meltdown will be in August.” I couldn’t resist pointing out the term “melt” is used when students who have responded do not turn up on campus (whether they get into late waitlist situations or whatever). But Columbia_Student got it right–there will be mega meltdowns as more kids than ever will have to make very late choices which affect the next four years. Yikes.

I don’t quite see why there would be mega meltdowns in August. The wait lists are over all small numbers. Also, I don’t understand why anyone would put down more than one deposit. You can lose your admission. If you have a good choice, just stick with it.

I think Madbean is using “mega meltdown” to refer to intensity, not volume  I am so bad at decision-making that I can’t bear to even think about how hard that would be for a freshman to suddenly switch gears and envision herself at an entirely different school than she’s been planning to attend.

In the case of USC Spring admits, they are in a unique position of being able to hedge a bit on the double deposit thing: no deposit is required until July, so I wouldn’t be surprised if lots of kids have committed to a second school while they wait to see if they’re moved up to fall.

1 more day!

do u know what time the emails are supposed to come?

i wouldn’t be all set up for a specific time like its a “decision round” email from a college. i’m willing to bet its done by each region’s counselor at whatever time they feel like or around a certain time.

Anyone have a status change yet?

no! not since 4/19… which is the day they got it

Well, its midnight in SoCal, so if they were gonna like send them all immediately, they would have, and they didn’t. Now I have to go to sleep and panic at school all day. Great.

this will be the slowest and longest day ever.

Wishing you all the very best of luck, and that you receive great news today! I know how much you want this and I think you all deserve to have successful appeals.

no email yet… going to go enjoy my senior ditch day and hopefully something will show up later today. good luck guys

not in my mail today in NJ

not in the mail in norcal. still no email either…

i guess theyre not sending out the email today.

Hmm, I called today and the woman told me we’d get the e-mail by the end of today.

Also, it’s no surprise that no one received any mail today. Past threads indicate that the letter arrives days after the e-mail comes.

ooo so in the next like 47 min!
