In case anyone is interested, 60 Minutes had a feature last night on the movement to abolish the penny. Due to the skyrocketing costs of the main material (zinc), it costs almost twice as much to make a penny than it’s worth. Similar problem with the nickel (which contains copper). Supporters of the penny noted that whenever other countries have abolished their lowest form of currency a rise in inflation has occurred when merchants round up (no one ever rounds down).

Pro penny abolition. They’re pretty much useless.
Anti corporate sponsorship. You can see the effects of corporate interests in media, movies… now they’re interfering with my education? Screw that.
