I think I’ve done that.

heres my stupidity on form W.
math - i missed spinner one, easy minute/hour ratio one (<epic fail), and I II III one. possibly more.
cr- 2 vocab emote and avert/break up, resentment, at least 3/4 more passage based.
writing- explanation of, “so to speak”, questionable whether “were to” was necessary on one.

Here’s the results to the astronomy ones (sorry if somebody’s already posted):

The first, about the pair considering which of the following, was E, or the challenge of finding small extrasolar planets. (Missed it… I thought it was the perception of “wobble” in planetary observations! )

The second was “an inaccurate prediction”, or E.

The third was “celebratory,” or A.

The last, about why planets in our solar system were mentioned, was to provide a comparison that indicates the mass of some extrasolar planets, or B.

‘of’ is wrong because ‘for’ is better, i think thats the main argument

“questionable whether ‘were to’ was necessary on one.”

It was necessary.

“‘of’ is wrong because ‘for’ is better, i think thats the main argument”

My argument, and I have found dozens of dictionary example sentences that support my position and none that contradict it, is that “of” is only for description and explication; “for” is for reasons.

and that folks, is why ‘for’ is better

Does anyone have experience in disputing a question?

Anyone have results from form S?

“and that folks, is why ‘for’ is better”

Not only is “of” worse than “for,” it’s wrong.

What the College Board says is right:

The arrival of swallows in San Juan Capistrano on the same day each spring fascinates scientists, who continue to search for an explanation of the phenomenon.

What this means:

The scientists were continuing to search for a description or explication of the birds’ arrival (something that, whatever the context, is illogical; the only people that would probably search for a description or explication of something is a police officer who is investigating a crime and needs witnesses’ testimony).

What the College Board is trying to say:

The arrival of swallows in San Juan Capistrano on the same day each spring fascinates scientists, who continue to search for the cause of the phenomenon.

What this means:

Just what it says: the scientists understand the phenomenon itself (and could presumably offer an explanation of it), but they don’t know for what reason the phenomenon occurs.

A variation on what the College Board is trying to say:

The arrival of swallows in San Juan Capistrano on the same day each spring fascinates scientists, who continue to search for an explanation for the phenomenon.

What this means:

Same as above.

Proving that “explanation for” is correct is easy; proving that “explanation of” is wrong is a bit harder. But I’ve ammased around 35 dictionary example sentences that include “explanation of” or “explanation for,” and all of them are consistent with what I’m saying. I have also cited a couple dozen articles from reputable sources, all of which support the distinction I’m making.

If “of” could be used in the context the College Board claims it can, at least one reputable source of the several dozen I’ve researched would presumably include their usage. When a reasonable standard is applied, the fact that none of them do proves that my dispute is valid.

So far, the curve seems like it’s a really good one?
Or is that just me?
IDK. Just seems strange. Last year, I made 4 mistakes on the whole test and ended up with a 231.
(-2 CR, -1 M, -1 W).

What do you guys think a -1 on each section would yield? I’ve been browsing around the PSAT threads and haven’t found any definite curves or anything like that.

^ Which form did you take?

Form W. (The Wednesday one)

-1 on each section yields 79 M, 80 CR, and 77 Writing.
