Princetonpower, that question was “reconcile” and “dogmatic”. It was something like “Jenna always admired Dave’s qualities of compassion and understanding, but could not reconcile that with his dogmatic political views which seemed to run counter to those values.”

@princetonpower

i saw that. i put reconcile/dogmatic (changed it from repudiate/jingoistic). what did everyone else put?

@garfieldliker the painter can’t capture the evanescence of beauty

the answer is the choice w/ polemical…
she couldnt akknowledge his good points bc of his bad points

what was the answer for the question that asked what was the tone of the passages (this was from the one dealing w/ the age of the baseball player)?

painter is arrest and perserve. it was like even though she lamented the beauty, she arrested it in her painting to perserve it in for posterity

hey could someone who knows the system better than i compile the answers again, specifically the vocabulary, please.

@dancer wasn’t it pessimistic vs. optimistic?

i’m sorry, but I had a CR experimental, and I was wondering which long passage it had.

@dancer567: I think I put that the second was more conversational.

@wavegate: yeah im pretty sure i had an answer with the word pessimistic, im like 100 percent correct that’s the answer.

@dancer: no, the answer was reconcile/dogmatic.
you’re wrong. acknowledge doesn’t make any sense in context.

Im in complete agreement with that polemical one.

anyone find any of the readings on google books? i can’t remember exact lines, so im having trouble with that.

hey was carnivalesque answer

Plus the statement was
“political creed”

and creed would make dogmatic make even more sense

@Rennir, conversational was the one talking about Paige’s age, where the second passage was written by Paige himself

@wavegate and Dancer:

Those were two different questions. The baseball one was definitely conversational. Pessimistic vs. optimistic referred to the ecotourism passages.

to dancer, would the answer: address an uncertainty answer your question? or am i thinking of the wrong q

Conversational was the answer to the tone of the second passage (written by Paige) compared to the first one (a biography). You can tell by the writing style, especially Paige’s use of contractions like “I’ll” and the story about the guy who swore he played with him in 1910.

“Dogmatic” is correct because it means sticking closely to one opinion, i.e. not open minded, and “acknowledge” doesn’t work, even if “polemic” does.

What was the answer to the one about the artist and something about beauty? (sorry I couldn’t be more specific)
