2011 N.U.in Acceptance Thread

So, I called Northeastern Undergraduate Admissions just a few hours ago and spoke to them to get more information about this program. I told them that Northeastern was my top choice as of now and that sending me abroad first semester of freshmen year would be difficult for my parents. But they told me that I should think of this as a great opportunity since only a limited amount of people got into this program. I realized that the admissions board put people into this program based on their views on how these students would adapt and adjust to living abroad. I don’t know about you guys, but in my college essay I talked about how I would love to get out of my comfort zone and try many adventurous things throughout my college experience. Maybe they put me into this program because they thought I would love this opportunity and take it. I applied to Northeastern as an undeclared major but I just sent in a request to change my major into accounting (the Co-op program). They told me that as long as i take accounting classes during my stay abroad, I will be able to be in the 5 year program just like everyone else in the program. So I am leaning towards going to Northeastern and studying abroad for the first semester. If you guys think about it… it is only 3 1/2 months and we’ll be back in the winter vacation just like every other freshmen in college. And I’m not at all nervous about adjusting and making new friends when I come to Northeastern in the Spring. I will have all these great stories and adventures to share about my wonderful experience abroad. I also feel that this program doesn’t necessarily mean that you’re less qualified than the people that got accepted for the fall. It just means that they felt like you were capable and strong enough to study abroad and that you would take this opportunity based on your essays/extra curricular activities. I don’t know, I may be wrong but I’m looking at this as an opportunity for me. :)
