Does anyone know if Caltech biology is done sending out invitations for interview? Many thanksssss!
I am an international student. Got an invitation from Berkeley MCB and wanna book the air ticket but not sure if I have the luck to be interviewed by Caltech…

Mount Sinai Graduate School of Biological Sciences:
I submitted my app on 12/22/10, but they didn’t update my GRE scores until 1/18/11 (after a few frustrating phone calls). I got an interview invite yesterday (email) for Feb.7-8 or 14-15.

@bashibazouk: thanks for the info! hope this applies to internationals as well! im so nervous now

is anyone else waiting on UPenn Cancer Bio?

I had my interview for the IU biotech masters program with its director on Tuesday, he said he was passing my app onto the adcom I should know ‘within a couple days to a week’…the suspense is nerve wracking! If I don’t hear back by mid-next week, I’m calling to see what’s up. On the plus side, I’m in the process of scheduling 4 interviews with PIs at IUPUI :)

Actually I interviewed with the Genetics program at WashU STL and there were 11 (not 7) of us plus there are two other interview weekends.

So I see an admission on gradcafe and I can personally say that official rejections are rolling out for University of Washington’s Neurobiology & Behavior.

Has anyone heard from University of Virginia Biomedical Sciences?

invitation to interview @ vanderbilt (through IGP for cell & molec neuroscience) - 1/28

Hello:
Just found the forum looking if they had sent invitations for the programs I applied.
I’ve only heard from UCSF and it was a rejection.
I’m still missing UCLA ACCESS and Stanford Developmental Biology.
Does anyone know if they’re done sending interview invitations?

Does anyone know if GSK and Einstein are still sending out interview invitations? The reason I’m a big nervous wreck (despite the fact that I am done with school and have a fulltime job to worry about) is that my boyfriend, who is finishing up his masters degree, and I are doing the long term relationship thing. He’s up in MA, I’m in NYC…it’s been ok so far, but it would never work for the length of a PhD. He applied to a few schools in NY and some in CT, and I’m desperate for him to go to school in NY (I work in the entertainment industry, so my only two realistic location options are NY and LA), but he hasn’t heard back from any in the city yet. Does anyone know if those two schools are among the many that still have interviews in March, in which case I shouldn’t be worried yet?

I just got the interview invitation from Weill Cornell. Previously, I was informed that they found my application interesting but since my GRE official scores were missing, I need to resend them. Interview dates are Feb 16-18.

Alas, twas not to be. Just got rejected from Stanford Biosciences (Genetics) by mail. Too bad, they have some awesome aging labs.

This makes invitations: Berkeley MCB, Scripps, UCSD BMS
Rejections: UCSF (Tetrad), Stanford

Definitely pumped for my interviews, but starting to think I should have applied to more schools…

Welps, off to my first interview at UCLA Access tomorrow. Haven’t really studied/practiced much, so we’ll see how it goes. D:

Did you guys do anything to prepare for your interviews? What have they generally been like? How were they structured?

What has the rest of the interview experience been like? How have the dinners and social opportunities been?

Re Emory GDBBS: I understand that all invitations to interview have been extended. This from someone currently in the neuroscience program.

I had my first interviews this weekend and they were extremely casual and relaxed. It kind of felt like speed dating

Is it ok to just email a thank you for the interviewers? Or should I mail an actual thank you card? I was only going to do the first but some were saying an actual mailed in card was better. I thought the latter seemed too much or that they might think its too schmoozy. Also what about Professors that didn’t interview me but came to all the social events and introductions were made? Should I thank them too?

My interviews were relaxed for the most part but I did get grilled by one prof. It was mainly me talking about my research then the prof talking about theirs. The social stuff was awkward. All the other applicants were reserved and didn’t talk much so I felt like I couldn’t let loose either. The professors tried to keep up the convos but it’s hard having to think about what you should or should not say all the time. And since no one else was talking I didn’t want to be the lone chatterbox.

Advice for 2012 admission cycle… Can people tell me some strong microbiology/virology PhD programs besides the typical top programs?
Thanks!

Has anyone heard back from the Stanford Cancer Biology Program?
