2011 UCLA Transfers: The Central Thread for Discussion and Decisions

1000%. someone on the forum said so.

I will personally guarantee it or your money back

Hopefully is not like the UCSD fiasco a few weeks ago!

I hope so… haha

It’s going to suck when nothing happens tomorrow.

Or if you’re not included in the first batch.

I hope that I’m in their first batch! :(

i imagine those who can see f/a and the whole housing thing will be in first batch, those that don’t will be second…

i hope anyways…

would it be released at 5pm tomorrow? (assuming IF it is tomorrow :/)

What would you guys do if something happened to all the admissions office computers and they lose all our decisions and have to start over?

I’d probably die.

After looking at all of these conflicting indications, the one clue that gives me the most hope is the phone call/email from the scholarship committee.

Now there’s always the chance that I’m wrong and there is some vague explanation for it, but stop and think for a moment!

Do any of you guys reaalllly think that these people have so much free time on their hands that they are able to have a LIVE HUMAN BEING make a call and leave a message on the phone of EVERY SINGLE PERSON that applied???

An email is easy to send, but an email AND a phone call??..NO WAY!!! So, if anything’s a sign, I’d say that is the one that is most likely to be an indicator or acceptance!

Now, that is not to say that those who have not got the call are not in. They may have simply not yet gotten to those people (maybe like a 2nd or 3rd batch).

my money is on the housing thing if its anything

^^ I’m not saying the other indicators are inaccurate, just that the phone call/scholarship seems the strongest.

The housing thing also appears to be quite predictive.

well… if you look at the other forums, someone from last years application process specifically said that they received a phone call last year and also got rejected… I’d definitely not put my bets on that.

@victor: Not necessarily. Not everyone has over a 3.75 gpa and if you see from last years thread a lot of many who got admitted in the first batch had 3.2-3.4 in non-impacted majors. And someone from the UC transfer decision thread stated she received the call last year about the scholarship too was later rejected. So I think when they mean the scholarship office and admission office are separate, I think it really is separate.

Edit: Here is the exact post from estarryful in the 2011 UC Transfer Admission Decisions thread:
“sorry to burst your bubble, but the scholarship call/email is exactly as they say. Has nothing to do with whether you’ve been admitted or not. I know this because I applied to UCLA last year and was really hopeful when i got the call too! but… found out that i did not get in …once april 21st came around. I received the call again this morning too (second time applying to UCLA), but will not be fooled! Hey who knows, maybe you did get in, but for sure receiving the email/call about the scholarship does not mean you’ve been admitted. I wish you the best!”

The housing thing is the strongest indicator. Why would the message change from “unsure of enrollment status” to being able to access the housing app for a brief period and then seeing a message of “fall 2011 applications are not yet available?” It’s common sense in my opinion.

kennek1-there are better indicators than a phone call (like housing)

All of the speculation on these “predictors” are making me more curious to see which ones were accurate, more than the decisions themselves :D

@victor- housing is the strongest indicator, much stronger than the scholarship phone call and email.

There are certain requirements for the scholarship. They won’t call you if you don’t meet up with the requirements (ex: not california resident or GPA is blow 3.75). It’s def not an indicator of admission. Stop freaking out, people.

17 more hours till admissions come out omg ./
