@KidKrasher… it’s probably as useful as a psychology major- so in itself, probably nothing. But if you also pick up some practical skills to go along with it (say business electives or a series of calculus, etc…) you can do a whole lot.

I thought I deserved a spot, too. Trouble is, you have to present “new and compelling” information in an appeal, and I’m not sure I have anything new.

Apparently my non-academic factors weren’t enough. I testified for California’s Attorney General (Jerry Brown at the time) in the criminal trial of a corrupt elected official and wrote my personal statement on it. Can’t get much more unique than that.

I did. Low GPA. Apparently the 3.95 at CCC and the 4.0 among the 51 most recent units (and the 4.0 among all four major prerequisites) wasn’t enough.

So much for the value of an upward trend, TAP, prerequisite completion, compelling work experience, engaging personal statements… None of it mattered in the face of 27 units from 2006-2007, earned at an unknown, 90 student, private liberal arts college in New England that nearly went bankrupt and lost its accreditation last year.

Rejected - of course it was expected, so I’m going to go ahead with the appeal. I’m a wee bummed out but I’m not too upset, I’ve been expecting it for 6 months

So I got rejected with a 3.89 TAP IGETC, I called them and asked them why and they said that I was missing Organic Chemistry which I am not. I am taking Chemistry 14c right now at UCLA Extension, my friend got accepted and he is in the same ochem class and major as me. the only difference is that in the UC Application, because its ucla extension, you have to write down the class name. I wrote “Chem 14c”, he wrote “Chem XL14C Organic Chemistry”. They also said that my bio at 1 college and my bio at another were the same course which they were not. One was General Bio 1 which covered evolutionary bio/environmental bio etc…, the other was Gen Bio which covered cellular bio, cellular respiration, photosynthesis, cell organs, and systems"

they even articulate independently to Life Sci 1 and Life Sci 2 under assist

Do I have a strong chance to appeal?

they pretty much think im missing prereqs but I am not!

^The correction in my grade trend, they have me as a 3.03, which is hardly sexy. I should be a 3.4x after the SBCC academic renewal, they’re lagging behind though on my stuff, I wanted to have the appeal set up and ready to proceed by tomorrow, but it’s just not doable right now

Edit: Incidentally, who would I call about learning why I didn’t get in, it’s not admissions right, it’s some other person?

Accepted!
Major: Pre-Political Science (planning to double major with Philosophy)
GPA: 3.7 cumulative; 4.0 major(s); 3.8 transferable courses
TAP: yes
IGETC: complete
Prerequisites: complete (for both majors)
Essays: hard to self-assess. I wrote them a day before they were due.

Congratulations to all who got in. If you were rejected, don’t take it laying down. Send appeals!
