2012 Christmas Lists?

Great idea for a thread. I’m in the same situation - looking for ideas for my son.

I’ve done the wallet for D, she loved it. I was considering a passport holder/wallet since she will be headed off to Europe for a little work next year. Besides some Euros, what else should I put in the wallet? She will be in Vienna.

Re: AppleTV - Also check out Roku ([Roku Streaming Player | Watch Netflix, Hulu Plus, Amazon Instant Video, Crackle and More on Roku Player](http://www.roku.com)). The concept is the same, but I believe that the content you can stream varies. We’ve had a Roku box for over a year; both of my sons watch shows through Netflix and Amazon Prime on that more than through any other source. I don’t remember the exact reasons, but I looked at both and went with Roku. And very reasonably priced! We gave one as a “family” Christmas gift to our best friends; they said that it was the best gift ever.

Thanks everyone. I do have a decent amount saved and want to do something for my parents after the hellish year we’ve all had. I asked what they wanted and they said for me to get into a funded grad program lol.

It looks like I’m getting both of them tickets to see Transiberian Orchestra, which we all love, getting my dad a football ticket and some hockey tickets, and then my mom a mommy/daughter spa package or something similar.

I am far too excited for Christmastime!!

Fwiw, my sister got appletv last year and loves it. I love the wallet idea too!

One of my best gifts last year was Michelin Smart Jumper Cables. You don’t have to know the positive/negative connections. My youngest dd has used these twice. They may not be exciting but they sure come in handy. I got them from Woot.

Packman my heart goes out to you and makes it hard for me to think about the holidays. You and your family will be in my thoughts.

Roku has been a huge hit in our house, easy to use and relatively cheap with Netflix.

So far… but haven’t gotten too far into shopping yet.

D1 (age 23, in her first apartment) - A new Bella Rocket blender (like a Magic Bullet, but less expensive, great for smoothies). Not sure what else yet…

D2 - Tickets to a musical for us with her best friend and friend’s mom. A musical that we LOVE that is almost never performed. In cahoots with the friend’s mom, both will be getting this for Christmas.

Dad - Found a selection of different kinds of honey at a Farmer’s Market last week. Probably will get him a book as well. We also always give him a box or two of Girl Scout Samoa cookies, which he loves.

Mom - Bought her a cell phone last year and put her on my plan, will continue paying for her plan this year. The other day she said to me, “My friend X has an IPhone, any chance we could upgrade to one of those?” I cracked up, it sounded so much like a teenager! I don’t even have a smart phone, so let her know that I wasn’t planning on this for her. I am sure I will also get her something else, too.

Does anyone have good suggestions for a nice women’s wallet? I bought D1 a wallet through the Sundance catalog many years ago (pricey as heck, but she loves it and is still using it many years later). I started looking for a wallet for D2 last year, and really couldn’t find anything unique and interesting for her. Looked online and in stores. Would prefer a somewhat smaller wallet (not checkbook size) – they don’t even ever carry checks, and carry medium to small-ish purses.

I have a roku and love it - my sister got one for xmas last year also.

on my christmas list is a keurig… and I’ve hinted at the google nexus 7 about 8 times while out with my parents… not sure if they picked up on my hint or not. if not i will probably buy myself one for my birthday, lol.

what about tickets to a sporting event? great ‘stocking stuffer’.

I got a purse full of gift cards and cash when I graduated. It was a great idea but I’ve never used the purse. Too small and not my style. If you’re going to do it try to get something they would like.

Some great ideas…keep them coming!

I did google the apple tv and I admit I didn’t quite understand it…do we have to have amazon prime, netflix or hulu to use it?

Yds announced he wants an iPad. so, I said what the heck, I’ll just get all of them iPads and be done. so I told them that and you should have heard the outcry. sheesh. can’t win. mds wants a different tablet, maybe Samsung, can’t remember, yds said he’s changed his mind. LOL. Can’t win.
So Im back to square 1. Three grown men sons and no idea what to do.

But if they all have ipads you can facetime!

Another Roku fan here. You can watch Amazon Prime, Netflix, (assuming you have these accounts) and even listen to Pandora Radio (free account) thru your tv. Very very easy to set up and use.

Since I live halfway across the country for my dad, I think he’s going to give me gift cards for the things I tell him I want, or ship them to my apartment since I really want a new vacuum cleaner and I can’t fit that in my luggage! Beyond that, I wish I could get a cubicle of my own at work for Christmas ;)

I got a Keurig for my birthday and I LOVE IT!!

Soccer, I always had a nice sized cube at work tool I got my current job which came with a huge cube… Now i’m working from home which is great but I have been spoiled by such a huge amount of desk space… Lol I feel like I have no room for things

Sent from my DROID BIONIC using CC

My oldest DD told me yesterday that she would like the “Silent Brass” system for her November birthday because the neighbors complain about her practicing in her apartment (she is not a student right now so home is the only place she can practice). She also needs tires for her car too so not sure if that will end up being her gift or not.

@fendergirl–Our project has hired like 50 people in the past 6 months so there are currently more people than either full sized cubes or desks in general. We have regular cubes and ‘cubelets’ (desks with dividers), but I’m ‘hoteling’ and just take the cube/desk of whoever is gone that day. It’s a morale killer not having a place to lock my paperwork or any of my stuff up :(

Top of my list is a keurig… D’s list is new boots and nikes.

I might have gotten a hint from my dd this morning…an ipod touch. She hasn’t asked for an iphone, because she loved the blackberry…even though they seem to be dying off.

Looks like you can text, skype, use pandora, watch movies. Any other thoughts? Is a docking stationa must with them. I don’t want to act too interested or ask her too many ?'s, because I really want her to be surprised.

praying lady, my sister has something similar to this for hers…

[CostCaptain: iPod/iPhone Mini Alarm Clock](http://www.costcaptain.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=C&Product_Code=DX_MI4604PBLK&gclid=CIWe1rqTk7MCFcXb4AodTwoAzg)

a docking station is not a must but she uses hers as an alarm clock.
