School does not rank, School is national ranked and very competitive.

how does not having money has anything to do with applying early

I’m assuming they either didn’t qualify for a fee waiver or perhaps it’s because they want to compare financial aid packages from multiple schools during the RD round (at least, I’m hoping that it’s one of these reasons because not doing ED for any other reason besides being unsure of one’s commitment to the school would be somewhat ridiculous)

lol it seems 2090 is a popular score for SAT I, now i know im not the only one with that score lol

This is just an update with my SAT II scores

i dont’ understand the money thing… i mean is you love the school, i think its worth it…

also, there’s one loophole in all Early Decision agreements that isn’t advertised: If they don’t provide you with enough aid, you can opt out of the binding agreement. I think you’d have to somehow prove that you really can’t afford it or something…(It’s in the small fine print)

However, most top tier colleges (like Cornell of course) have a commitment to meeting 100% (sometimes 99%) financial need of it’s applicants. To not do so would look bad on their part IMO. Therefore, they are willing to negotiate with applicants the aid packages if needed.

Yousonofatree, it sounds really reasonable and understandable. If an applicant really shows passion for the school but seriously needs the financial aid, the school will definately consider this fact and process the application with full responsibility.

Also if Cornell defers the person, then he or she could apply other schools as well… I feel really sorry for DadII…:frowning:
But I believe he and his daughter have thought more about this than I and other people have.
So… Good luck DadII!!:)

Meet 100% of need, yes. But I heard part of the “meet” is in the form of loans.

yes, every univ gives u part of the aid in loans, seriously there is no utopia where u come out of university debt free. if ur expecting to just go to univ without paying anything out of ur own pocket, good luck.

Hey, first post on College Confidential!
I’m also applying early to Cornell… of course.
