The concern I’m worried about is in a nontransferable math class I got a C. (the transferable math I got an A and all other classes are A’s). I also didn’t have time to volunteer due to the amount I work and school time!

fingers crossed:) Chance Me!

I’d say you’re in at all if you have all of your pre-reqs done.

UC to CC to UC
UC SANTA CRUZ 3.1
transfer gpa: 4.0
major: art history
IGETC: yes by the end of spring
No TAG or TAP
Major requirements: Almost done EC’S: volunteering, sports, awards etc.
Essays: I thought they were pretty strong, used all space and explained circumstances
Applied: UCLA, UCI, UCSD

Rate my chances! Transferred out of the UC system so I could do well at a CC and apply right back into the UC system with better chances. Hopefully they can look over my D and C also. It was at Santa Cruz in two “intro” computers and film classes. Film I could have done better but the computers class was the hardest class I could have imagined.

@LAforlife

what does everyone think of my chances??
Im an English major with a 3.8 GPA
I applied to UCLA, UCB, UCI, UCSD, UCSB and i got into all of them(even UCLA) except berkeley so far.
I have my IGETC done but Im missing like one or two pre reqs for Berkeley. I wrote a good essay indicating why I couldn’t take the classes because of my family and financial struggles.
I got into UCLA missing like 3 pre reqs as an American Lit and Culture major so what are my chances for Berkeley as an English major?

PLEASE HELP!!

^^^^@spartansam117

How about EC? If you have average to exceptional EC, then I would say you’re at a fairly good competitive standing.

Going to … UC Davis! ^.^ Aggies, here I come!

Anyone in here transferring from an out of state school? I would like to transfer to a CSU though, I am not sure which one I will be applying to in the future. How do you satisfy requirements for these universities if each of them has different requirements?

This is for next year… What are my chances so far? I’m currently a freshman.

Campuses applied to : UCLA, UCSD, UCI
Major: Biological sciences
GPA: 3.55
School: UC Davis
EC: none from college.

GPA: 2.77 (rising)
Upper division transfer

Basically, I started at my CC as a Business Major and found that that was not the route I wanted to go. I have a lot of personal issues that heavily affected my gpa: sick family members, homelessness, depression, and a move across the country. However, there is no way to let the admissions boards know this. Is there any hope what so ever?

I am an Archeology major (Anthropology) accepted to UCSB and UCSC so far. GPA is 3.5. I had *ty grades during my first year of CC but academically renewed what I could. Received mostly A’s since then, not without a few *ups here and there. I have worked at a Central American archaeological field school for the past three years, accumulating three years of original research on Maya settlement. My work will be published within the next year. I was also on Student Senate for a year. Did private archaeological work, participated in conservation projects. Worked various odd jobs when school wasn’t too overwhelming. Sorted samples at UCLA’s Zooarchaeology lab. Writing is my strength and my personal statement was fairly strong, I’d guess.

tl;dr

CONS: “Bad” grades early in community college career. Some ups and downs. (Academically renewed…however, this still left some C’s here and there.)

PROS: Unique and impressive extracurriculars/original research. Obvious potential and dedication demonstrated despite early setbacks…for example, I took eight academic classes one semester (at two schools) and got a 4.0.

Chance me? I feel like I’m a big ball of contradictions and have no idea what the higher tier schools’ reactions will be to my case.
