4/3/12
Communications Major
I’ve been reading this decision thread for a while and have been freaking out like the rest of you. Rest assure, a day before the deadline I get accepted. Don’t lose hope for those that are still pending:)

Still pending =(

Son finally heard back . . . yipee!
Decision: Accepted 4/30

UC GPA: 3.11
Major Pre-reqs Completed: perhaps 2 of 6 in classroom setting (his community college severely cut back on classes in drama major), but he sought opportunities in local theater.
Intended Major: Theater, acting emphasis
Tag?: not available at UCSB for this major
ITGETC?: yes
Extracurriculars: 5 years performing locally. Volunteered many hours with high school Thespians and children’s summer drama. Worked for US Navy demilitarizing excess equipment and inventory while in school and during summers/school breaks.
School type: CCC
General comments: Great personal statement and practical experience probably helped balance his lowish GPA.

Good to see more people are accepted. Any of those recently accepted plan on attending the university?

We really need to make a 2012 UCSB transfer Facebook group. It would give everyone that is going to attend a chance to meet new people.

Whoever is planning to attend, what are your housing plans??
If anyone is interested in cooperating to get a house email me at (falconpierce at yahoo dot com)

very happy I was accepted, but that is making me angry is that all of the transfer tours are full. They are most likely filled with students who were admitted in the first wave, but how is that fair to those of us who were just given our decisions yesterday? Does anyone know how we are supposed to visit the school? I am thinking of giving them a call to ask about options. It just seems really unfair.

need to update my courses, but i don’t see the option on mytriton. Called in to ucsd and they just redirected me back to tau and i wasn’t able to update.

@Yvette14

Can you post your stats plzzzz =]

Does anyone know what formula ucsb uses to calculate a gpa? From what I understand, each school has different ways.

Really? No one is making a Facebook group? Lol. I might just make one then.

@iamsocal LOL I TRIED TO BUT I’M FB ■■■■■■■■ ISH

Fionuhh, try again? If not, I wouldn’t mind making one. However, I don’t wanna make one if people aren’t gonna use it. I just thought it would be a good idea since the 2012 transfer kids on this forum got one for UCSC, UCLA, and I think UC Davis.

I’ve been waiting for a FB group to pop up. I’d join!

Would I have to make it in the UCSB groups or outside? LOL IT’S CONFUSING CAN YOU MAKE IT PLEASE I’D JOIN

Ok i just created one within ucsb? But when i tried to make one outside of it, it said i needed to included friends lol

It’s called : UCSB TRANSFER STUDENTS (fall 2012) and you will see a cute little bear

I have no idea what outside and inside is. Lol. I thought you just click a open and it creates a group, and you decide the name and the security settings.

Thanks for creating it. Now the waiting part begins. When I was searching through for a Facebook group, I found 2011’s transfer group and they had 100+ people. Amazing.

Time to facebook stalk you guys

I just realized what fionuhh meant by inside or outside. Apparently, inside groups are inside the UCSB network, and they require you to submit your UCSB email address.

I think there is actually another way to create groups without this.
