** 2012 UCSD Transfer Decisions Thread **

ya just saw my account balance. you don’t have to pay all of that by sept 21st due date right? Thats your balance for the whole Fall Quarter so you can pay all at once or monthly…am i correct?

essentially divide that balance by 4 months (per quarter) and thats your monthly payment right? I’m new to this whole thing and don’t understand it fully.

what are the mandatory registration fees?

Yeah that whole account balance threw me off too. Fin aid is given out beginning of September and yes we don’t have to pay until before classes begin. That balance is the total quarterly fees. Mine was almost 8K yesterday…today I have a remaining balance of 2.5k, I think Fin Aid has already started the payment process. They’ve started taking from my unsub/subs loans…I’m so confused, why don’t they take from scholarship money first!!!

does TRIP split up the total amount in our account balance so that we can pay in installments?

@durper LOL!

They finally just validated my transcript…“Requirement Met.” Don’t think it really matters anymore since my Academic History was already populated and I was able to enroll in classes. Just wish they had done it earlier at the same time they populated my transcript so to save me the unnecessary stress the past few weeks. Or maybe they like me being stressful.

@PandaUCSD mine are still not validated…im not really stressing about it since my academic history is populated and I enrolled in 3 classes, but that lingering doubt is getting pretty annoying

Im still not validated. I have no more fü(ks to give about it.

we can make our student ID’s when we move in right?

you guys…its kind of embarrassing that the UCSD thread is the only transfer decision thread still going. are we just gonna keep posting about anything and everything in one thread? there is a whole UCSD sub-forum here. besides, posting in new threads in the correct forum will help future prospects do research. so when you flame a newb to search it will actually be feasible for them to do so because they wont have to scan through a 197-page thread

@itspat, you can get your id anytime now at the campus card office in the student services building. Alternatively you can just wait until orientation.

@diamondjim, this thread nursed me through some uncertain times so f╥(k you lol

@durper alrighty. thanks :)

@diamondjim why would it be embarrassing? This thread was specifically meant for 2012 UCSD transfers, so technically, transfers who post here can talk about anything and everything. Also, given that our public education system is constantly being changed around, the information we received this year may not be applicable within the next couple of years. Hopefully it won’t turn out like that, but if anything, it would be better for future transfers/students to call UCSD and get the information from them directly. Not trying to be an a$$ about not helping future prospects, but it’d be dangerous for future prospects to rely on information given out years ago. Best way to get information is go to the source itself.

well you guys can post wherever you want. i have no pull or authority here. I’m just saying. there is a whole sub forum here where all of these questions you guys are bunching up into one 197-page thread have already been asked and answered. its also 197 pages of off topic chatter. generally transfer DECISION threads are supposed to be “i got accepted/rejected, here are my stats.” yes, these things also usually include a little chit chat here and there but now its almost time for the next round of applicants and the DECISION thread from the last cycle is still going. i was just trying to help and compartmentalize and redirect the conversations. imagine if this whole forum just posted under one thread titled “college and stuff” that would be terrible

here, i’ll make it easy

Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: I had the GPA, the classes, extracurricular’s, explained that I worked full time in blue collar jobs and had an overloaded schedule each semester. My personal statement answered the prompt questions. Also my personal statement really let them know who I am and what my story is, how I ended up being a transfer student and how I identified and overcame obstacles in my life. I filled out everything on time, including the tag agreement.
Good Luck!! Apply to more places but make sure you go above and beyond to complete the requirements. If the minimum is 3.5 strive and work your ass for a 4.0. It’s only going to get more competitive

@nathanaelzur Why in the hell did you revive this year old thread when there is already a 2013 thread…

I just was researching the school and this came up so I posted

lol, I thought this had to be 2013 thread though… o_______O

It could be helpful for those looking to see what stats were accepted for last year (how they stack up)
