^^^ Uh oh. I HOPE its for freshman. Or maybe both? They have to keep a certain ratio for transfers to freshmen don’t they? I don’t know which the UC’s get more of though.

@iDizzle, my fried was in the same boat as you. They sent her an acceptance leeter on the first batch saying as long as she meets the requirements at the end of the semester, her tag will be accepted. She has a 3.4 right now and is in 21 units trying to up her gpa over 3.5 so she can go to UCSD.

Point being: endeavor to succeed with good grades this semester and you may still be able to get in! :)

UCSD has over-enrolled at the transfer level for a few years now, so yes they’ll probably cut back a few hundred acceptances. They generally try for ~2,300-2,500 transfers that actually accept and attend, last year they had ~2,800, you’re still looking at ~7,000 acceptances though.

Looks like UCSD did waitlist Transfers last year…but some waitlisted students were admitted at the end. So i think we are safe…Hopefully. :/

Waitlist Information

Last year, Davis, Irvine, and San Diego used a waitlist for transfers and all admitted students from the waitlist (Davis did not specify how many were admitted; Irvine admitted ALL applicants on the waitlist; San Diego admitted about 20% of those on the waitlist).

This year Irvine and San Diego plan to use a transfer waitlist; Davis and Riverside are considering the option.

What students need to know:

They might receive waitlist offers from more than one campus. Students may accept as many waitlist offers as they wish. Waitlist offers will be made by the end of April for transfers.
Once offered a spot on a waitlist, students must opt in by the stated deadline. Instructions for doing so will be included with the waitlist notification. Transfer waitlist opt-in deadline: May 15.
Even if they accept a waitlist offer at a UC campus (or several), students should submit a Statement of Intent to Register (SIR) by the stated deadline to a UC campus or other institution to which they have been accepted to ensure they can attend in the fall. If they later accept an offer of admission from a UC campus where they have been waitlisted, they will forfeit their deposit at the first campus and must submit an additional SIR and deposit.
Waitlisted transfer applicants will be notified of their status no later than July 1.
SIRs of waitlisted students will be considered on time for purposes of housing and orientation, provided they are submitted by the deadline stated in the offer of admission.
Campuses will still consider appeals received by the deadlines specified. Applicants who feel they have grounds for an appeal should submit one, but they should keep in mind that the purpose of the appeal process is to deal with errors and compelling new information and hardship. Students cannot appeal for a spot on the waitlist. Transfer appeal deadline: May 15 (May 4 for UC Santa Cruz).

Every year is different. There were less transfer applicants to UCSD this year…who knows how many people out of 8,000 acceptance letters are going to accept. It kind of sucks that’s UCSD admits you by gpa…it would be better if they knew how many empty spaces there are in a designated major. Meh

^^ I agree!

:-) I guess their cut-off gpa for non-impacted majors will def be above 3.2.

i really hope the 3.2 gpa is the cut off because that is where i stand

given i have attended a four year university and have taken some hard upper division courses that have waited my gpa down a little

does anyone know when the next batch of letters will go out by any chance? ???

Supposedly mid-April :/

@jorozco4: So are you a 4yr-to-4yr transfer?

When you log into your application will it tell you right on the front page whether or not you have been admitted? I am assuming so considering I can’t seem to find any tabs or links that bring to to something that says application status. If not can someone let me know where within the application you can find if your application is still processing or if you have been admitted? Thanks in advance.

^if you’re accepted, your welcome letter immediately pops up when you log in. No tab to click

idizzle: yes im out of state 4-4 yr transfer go to CU denver

@acoustickitty123

I know someone who got rejected in the first batch 3.7 econ major without tag so I think the cutoff for non-tag people is definitely higher than 3.2

they released rejections in the first batch?? or was it a freshman? or is it a ■■■■■ o.0

@SEELE: Hope it’s at least at a 3.3 lol

@uchappytrain

look im not trolling, I was surprised too because i didn’t think that they would release rejects in the first batch nor did I think a 3.7 would get rejected. and he’s a transfer.

I got accepted to UCSD with a 3.2 gpa from community college into muir as a transfer student. My major is sociology . I did the ulink, which is similar to tag. I got my acceptance letter on Saturday, the day after they released the first batch ( I live in SD ). Hope this helps you guys and/or settle any unrest .
