I got a 5 on calculus and a 4 on biology, exactly what i though i would get. I am satisfied
My first AP freshmen year was APUSH and I got a 3! Surprised and happy.
Pretty happy that I got a 5 on my AP World History exam, which was my first AP class.
But next year will be hell with 4 AP’s… Ughhh
When do the FRQ scoring guidelines come out?
I’m happy!
Got 5’s on both Comp Sci and APUSH
5 in Chem, 4 in Euro.
I thought I was done when I found out that I bombed 5 MCs on the chem but it turned out alright. I thought I did better in Euro though since I was pretty confident walking out.
Gov: 5

Physics just isn’t my thing…
Unfortunately Stanford will not be giving me any credit for these classes. :((

@Wskimo I didn’t say that getting 5’s in all science will be viewed down upon by an AO. But true, I did say “I wouldn’t call five 5’s exceptional, especially when they are all science”. Notice, it’s FIVE 5’s, five AP science exams, NOT ALL science exams. And in fact AP provides 10 or so science exams.
I didn’t say getting 10 or so 5’s in science isn’t exceptional. I admit it IS exceptional. I said it’s just not as impressive as getting several 5’s all in humanity subjects, especially when the humanity subjects are EH, USH, AH, WH, etc. because these subjects require far more effort than do science subjects and are more difficult for a student to achieve 5’s on AP exams. The difference in difficulty is intrinsic.
This is especially true in my school. Unlike many schools in the US (I’m not in the US), my school doesn’t provide AP courses. However, most of the contents involved in AP Science Exams are already covered within the everyday courses in my school, i.e. every student studies them, whether they want to or not. For example, the heredity part in my school’s Biology course is far more specific, detailed, and difficult than heredity tested on AP Bio. Therefore, students from my school find getting 4’s and 5’s easy on AP Science exams. On the other hand, the AP history or language subjects are more difficult for us compared to science subjects, because their contents are NOT covered in our daily courses. We have to either self-study or find classes outside of classroom, in order to prepare for those humanity subjects.
I said in my post “Some of my schoolmates and alumni”, I was referring to the situation in my school.
And yeah, if a student attends a STEM focused school, then for him or her, 5’s in sciences should be less impressive than 5’s in humanities. Because the school is STEM focused, the student has more opportunities to study sciences. Humanities, on the other hand, require the student’s own effort, and thus are the bigger challenge.
I said “I personally think liberal art subjects are more difficult”, but I didn’t mean humanities are valued more than sciences for everyone. It is a fact that liberal arts are more difficult than sciences. Of course admission officers know the fact and they’ll “take that into consideration”. That’s all.
So you brought up the topic about the role of AP in college admission. Yes of course an intended science major makes better sense when there are 5’s in sciences rather than humanities. But first, AP or not, admission officers don’t really care that much. Your intended major, and your passion and ability in this area, are better proved by your essays and ECs. Second, many people do NOT have intended majors. They are good at several areas, e.g. physics and history. And not all colleges require you to declare an intended major when you’re applying. So for these people, AP scores all make sense, be they science or humanity. Third, the purpose of submitting AP scores is not so much proving your ability in your “intended major” area as proving your adaptation to college-level academic work. Even if your intended major is science, so what? If you don’t submit science AP scores, but rather send EH, USH, WH scores, you are still in a good shape. The truth is that the role of AP in college application is small, if not null.
Many people like to ask “Oh I got a 3 in my AP Literature, doesn’t that ruin my opportunity to get into a English major?” Essentially the same thing. If your AP scores match your intended major, good; if they don’t match, your application doesn’t become nonsense right away.
Maybe I didn’t make things clear in my last post. Hope this one explains things better.
@AmericanGothic Sorry, I didn’t mean that the AP scores will show up on my transcript, I meant that colleges will see it if I choose to submit it.
Thanks for your encouragement though I appreciate it : )
I’m just paranoid about every test and its score that Admission Officers will see haha #sadlyfe
Hi guys! Here are my scores:
2015
APUSH, AP LANG, AP SPANISH LANG-5
AP PHYSICS 1- 4
2014
AP EURO-5
I am very satisfied with these scores, since I am not a native spanish speaker and it was only my third year taking spanish (I skipped spanish 3).
For physics, our teacher never even gave us a practice test and I walked into the testing room after a lot of self-study. He is one of my fav teachers though, and I hope to major in Biomedical Science And minor in Spanish. (Hope to become a doctor or medical researcher one day).
I am a rising senior, doubling up on science (bio and physics c next year)
Next year’s schedule: AP LIT, AP CALC. BC, AP BIO, AP PHYSICS C, AP GOV AND AP MACROECONOMICS
. Please give me feedback on if you think these scores are good for top universities (given that I have awesome SAT and ACT scores, extracurricular activities, research, the whole jazz lol) .
3 on APWH.
Very disappointed because I studied very hard for months for the exam. It qualifies at all the colleges I’m looking into applying to, but it’s disappointing.

Econ: 5
Gov: 4
UCR -_-"
AP US History-4
Chemistry-4
Statistics-4
I’m not really sure what to make of this. Can someone please explain to me where I stand?
@purplegold12 Those are great scores! From what I know, AP scores don’t matter much so you should be fine if the rest of your scores are good.
If a college seriously rejects a really good student based on a 4 on an AP exam, then that college needs to seriously consider shutting down.
Art history: 5
Calc BC: 5
I was really surprised by my scores. I pretty much bs’d my way through the Art History FRQS, especially the short answer ones, but I think I did fairly well on the multiple choice. I guessed on quite a few of the calculator multiple choice questions on calc.
I am only a sophomore, do you think that these scores will set me apart if I apply to competitive schools?
