@penntousc Most sophomore transfer would have over 30+ units. I myself have 34 transferrable units since I did not plan to take any GE courses last summer before starting my first year in college. for my cc, hard math classes like calc is awarded 5 units and acct is awarded 4. GE classes and other easy classes like econ is awarded 3 units. I’ve seen other cc where their calculus course is 4 units, so I guess it varies among different cc.
@eoverland kudos to you! 7 classes in spring? The max i’ve taken was 5 classes in spring.
@pomeranian4rich yeah mine is similar with most being 3 credits, but calc and accounting and other deep courses are 4 credits. I guess some people are fine taking 5 plus courses, but I’m think I’m gonna save myself the stress and focus on my GPA with 34 credits.
Hopefully quite a few people decided to not enroll considering the costs and went to other schools hahah or got sick of waiting and applied somewhere else considering how long this is taking
@pomeranian4rich From what I recall, he did work as a bookkeeper and was just a little bit older (so he was non-traditional in a sense). I’m not sure if the non-trad helped in any way, but I’m sure the bookkeeper thing did. He really rocked his courses! Did way better than I did my first semester at USC I know that he was rejected from UCLA for his calc, so you never know sometimes =\
Whoa, my financial aid status has changed since I last checked it this morning…
It’s giving me this message:
Ability to Benefit Verification Required
At this time, we are unable to credit your financial aid to your student account. Federal regulations require financial aid applicants to submit verification of high school graduation or a recognized equivalent. If you have not already done so, please submit one of the following documents to the USC Office of Admission:
A high school transcript verifying graduation
Verification of successful completion of the GED or other approved high school equivalency
Transcript(s) to verify the completion of 60 or more transferable college units
For more information, please visit Required Info & Forms
This is very weird because they already have my h/s transcripts?
My heart dropped cause of the red exclamation symbol under Eligibility Status…
@journalism89 WOW! This sounds like great news for you!!! If you recall, another student got the “Ability to Benefit Verification Required” message and was admitted a couple days later (Pg 271 & 273 @AngieSarkis) !! Annenberg’s moving!!! I sure hope this is a positive sign for you!!!
btw, around what time did you check your FA status this morning, and when did you notice the change??
@LACCryan I can only hope but I don’t want to get my hopes up just yet especially because I know the portal has technical issues often and the message of needing my high school transcript when USC clearly already has it is very weird…
I checked my portal this morning maybe around 11am and then I haven’t logged back in since about 10 minutes before I posted that (so maybe like 10:30pm-ish).
I submitted my final grades on Saturday June 18th, so when I called Monday the 20th to verify they received the documents the person over the phone was like, “well we just got in the office so it probably just hasn’t been processed yet” and so he confirmed it. I also emailed my counselor a copy (and never got a response back), and then today I called one more time to confirm and the person was extremely nice on the phone and said they had received my upload and received my official transcript that came from SMC last Friday (on the 24th).
@journalism89 I hear ya but I have a good feeling about this. By the way, did anyone ever get back to you regarding advice on parking for commuters? I live in Koreatown and will be driving to campus as well, if admitted.
I hand delivered my official transcripts on June 10th and my counselor said this “You’ll be notified of a decision within the next couple weeks. Unfortunately I can’t provide an exact timeline.”
@LACCryan no, nobody! And i posted twice! So i googled the hell out of parking at USC and it only confused me further. It seemed like there’s a specific time and date when the passes for the semester are available for purchase and everyone rushes to get it until they’re all full…? I could have totally misinterpreted it and it was giving me total anxiety (because obviously that means that all of fall must be full already), so I figured I’d wait to see if I was accepted then ask a counselor…
