Seems like they’re rolling out most of the SGRs. It’s a good thing your semester is ending. You’ll probably get in!
I DIDNT GET A SGR. DOES THAT MEAN IM REJECTED??? IM SO SCARED. I HAVE A 3.0 FROM FIRST TWO QUARTERS. IM SCARED
@usctrojansucla let’s not freak ourselves out just yet. Admission decisions are based off of much more than a mere GPA and all aspects of the application are taken into consideration, otherwise they wouldn’t have bothered to ask for a writing supplement or anything else at all. Stay positive and who knows, no SGR might also mean an acceptance already
I am applying to marshall and I haven’t gotten a SGR. These decisions better come out soon. I have other colleges that are due on May 1st.
The fact that usc can notify you after an SGR in MID JULY is actually ridiculous… I personally feel like they need to stop accepting applications at an earlier date than Feb 1. It’s such an inconvenience not knowing if you’re in or not by at least the end of April. It affects us in terms of housing, notifying other schools and paying their deposit, not knowing if you should purchase storage in your current college state or take your stuff home etc…
@thepinksun SAME. I think they should have a set time before most schools end to post their announcements in one day instead of “by June 1st”… Umm hello we have other schools to think about! I didn’t even sign up for housing at my current school because idk what’s going on with my USC app!
From what I heard, (rumor) they’re accepting students till late July just to increase their competitiveness, such as the ratio of admitted students to number of applicants. They think this will decrease their acceptance rate to look “competitive” lol. This might or might not be true because I read something about this on another thread.
@ohwiseone I didnt choose housing at my school either!! I don’t even know if I should spend money on a storage unit in DC or bring my stuff back home. I live in NY it would really inconvenience me if I don’t get in and have to lug all my stuff back to DC.
And getting notified in July literally a month before classes start?? Who can make a financial decision in that time? And I bet they’ll still take a while with the financial aid packages.
@pomeranian4rich honestly I can see that as being true. But I feel like they could accomplish the same thing by shifting the notification timeframe back even though it might conflict with the freshman process.
My theory: There are probably quite a few students who don’t care about financial aid/already can afford USC thus don’t need a response within a specific time, so USC doesn’t need to make the effort to change deadlines etc. and possibly have transfer admissions conflict with freshman admissions. Supply and demand I guess, but who knows lol
But what about the whole needing to respond to certain schools by Month X day X ?
Like those who applied to UC’s, etc
I see no rational reasoning here Trojans :-/
I’m freaking out I haven’t received a SGR and I applied Dornsife. My application status hasn’t updated and my required documents section is blank.
@USCsssss same exact situation here… what are your stats?
You guys need to stop freaking out about receiving an SGR, an SGR is not a good or bad thing. An SGR is given out to those who have required classes in progress. Applicants like myself, who have finished all of the GE’s and required courses will not be receiving an SGR because they have no other classes to look at, so we will be the first to hear from USC. It’s pretty simple guys!
I just called my ttp advisor. I’m also a dornsife applicant. I haven’t heard anything. He told me it means nothing to get a SGR. Also, they’re just starting to get into transfer apps. He said my app hasn’t even been looked at yet! So there’s nothing to worry about! Just give it time.
@dtrojan112 Wow, I thought all of the TTP applications had already been went through because of all the TTP people getting in earlier this month. I wonder how they’re reviewing applications
@Probtransfer slowly and painfully. That’s their method
@Probtransfer he told me since I’m a freshman now they’ll want to see both semesters so a spring grade check will be coming at some point.
@dhailey I had a 3.6 last semester and I graduated HS with a 4.2 and a 3.5 college GPA with 30 credit hours completed. I’m really stressing about this decision because USC is the only school I applied to and I’m severely unhappy at my current school. So if I don’t get accepted I’m screwed
@USCsssss You didn’t apply anywhere else??? You have good high school stats, I would just be terrified if I were you. That’s quite the gamble.
Que sera, sera.
My acceptance came in the mail today! I applied as a freshmen from UW with 60 quarter units and a 3.92 cumulative GPA. My major is Econ and I had most of the prereqs completed or started. And I’m not on TTP
