Has anyone else gotten a Satisfactory Academic Appeal Form in their financial aid document area?
Sorry, that should read Satisfactory Academic Progress Appeal.
@5nonnegotiables Hey, I think mine changed the same as yours. You mean that Apply for financial aid tab after the login?
@mellyjune ok I didn’t have that msg at all. Probably updated before I checked. I’ve checked everyday and it’s different and they’re probably updating and adding documents as they go through batches of applications . I’m think there is some progress. Good luck!
My gpa is lower, but I’m hopeful. My sister goes there.
Thanks @mellyjune. Good luck to you too! I wouldn’t be surprised in my case. I have an embarrassing amount of W’s on my transcripts which I know is the kiss of death, so yeah…
@millaportma my sister had a w or two on her transcript & got in two years ago so don’t lose hope
@millaportman having W’s isn’t necessarily the kiss of death. Like @5nonnegotiables said there are people who get W’s who get in.
Also there are people who have no W’s and a 4.0 who don’t get in. It’s just it’s better to avoid having them so it’s the best chance buts definitely not going to destroy your chances or anything.
So don’t lose hope!!!
@5nonnegotiables getting updates is nice though because it tells us that things are happening!!! Woooo
I wonder how many W’s they tolerate. I remember somebody on here that had 3 W’s and got into Viterbi. I myself wound up with a W after I failed the first two exams and knew it would be impossible to catch up. I actually didn’t mention this fact since it happened after I applied and I didn’t want to tarnish my image, but USC didn’t rescind me or anything when they found out. I was actually worried that might happen.
Now once I logged in its asking me to change my password. Are other people having to do that too?
@mellyjune Thanks for the encouragement! I seriously have my doubts but hope and a lot of prayers help! LOL
@Mikeysky96 I’ve not heard anything thus far. Have you?
I submitted my winter quarter grades on Tuesday of this week. Does anyone know how long it takes for them to make a decision? Or it doesn’t really matter
@hopefulunderdog there’s really no way to tell. USC has their own method and timing of things that only they know. I think they just get to things when they get to things so it’s hard to say when you’ll hear back.
Just a quick semi-related note. I just got around to checking my email and apparently myUSC was even having issues for current students that caused them to miss their fall registration appointments, so maybe this could explain some of the funny behavior you guys have had with your portals - such as being asked for a new password.
hey, everyone! dornsife applicant here! got tired of lurking and decided to join up. the wait is killing me.
my friend spoke to transfer admissions this morning and they said that the change to the YouUSC document management system with the “Appeal of Admission Decision” was not intentionally uploaded to the system for transfers and that it was supposed to be rolled out for the freshman applicants.
Well getting our minds off of the admission process.
Anyone outside of LA know how they are going to survive? Pay bills, etc? Loans? I believe the federal loans go up to $10k a year, private?
Scholarships and hopefully enough fafsa if not I’ll be really sad but I’ll just go to my back up school and try again for USC for my masters/law school so it’s not the end of the world to not go for undergrad. I just really love the programs usc offers and the amount of opportunity you get out of USC but it’s not the end of the game for me as there’s other opportunities for me to go. @bugajskj
@bugajskj I’ll be using private loans
@penntousc Do you have a grace period to pay them back after you graduate with those, like the federal loans?
@swim0220 I called Viterbi and told them that Im taking a math class that isnt required for admission and they said taking a W is bad, but at the same time they said getting a C is bad too. if you get SGR’ed a C would look bad just as a W would but either way I would explain why you dropped the course. It sucks that it has to be that way. And MellyJune is right, if you’re borderline C+ B- then I would stay. The counselor said B is obviously the best scenario, but it seems its not working out for both of us at the moment.
