2017 - 2018 USC Transfer

@dreamla yeah the wait is killing me so much. :frowning:

Yes I AMA t community college in Maryland, am a rising sophomore

Sorry typos, I meant yes I am at community college in Maryland

@stahboy thank you! I thought most people (regardless of what school they are transferring from) are supposed to get close to 3.7 to be safe:(

@penntousc thank you! Does this mean that it is unlikely for me to get accepted fall even if I manage to boost my overall gpa to 3.7 after spring quarter? (Or I wouldn’t even get an SGR?)

@pantafootball2 Yup. I actually had the Cal Grant for my first semester at USC, but I guess the funds had been depleted by my second semester. I had to pay the exact same amount both semesters. When your EFC is 0000, I think it’s hard to get more gift aid, so I don’t think it was possible for me to pay less haha :stuck_out_tongue: Anybody that has to pay pretty much nothing is extremely lucky. I personally don’t know anybody with a FA package that’s significantly better than mine.

@Skepta If it doesn’t transfer for credit, I don’t think they would hold it against you. I remember some guy that failed intermediate algebra and then later got a better grade in stats. He was fine and got accepted :slight_smile: If you manage to do better in a more difficult course, than I surely see no reason for them to hold the other course against you. Anyway, I think you would be fine given that your transferable GPA is quite high.

@InfiniteHH98 not impossible, but a lot of applicants that receive SGRs and have a weaker spring semester are accepted for spring if not rejected. If your overall GPA is a 3.7 by the end of this year I don’t think there’s too much to worry about though.

@penntousc thanks a lot! :slight_smile:

Ya if I get a C this semester I’m gonna be rejected or Spring admitted.

@itslife123 in what class?

@penntousc Linear Algebra. It’s not required class so I’m not sure if im gonna get an SGR. I might just get a straight acceptance but might be rescinded possibly. But Idk how that works. I just have to strive for a B :slight_smile:

It would suck to be rescinded tho because I got a 4.0 in all my math and physics classes.

@itslife123 I highly doubt you’d be rescinded because of that, don’t worry too much

…Why are some decisions already out? What is TTP?

@lexluther96 TTP is the trojan transfer plan. People in this program hear back before regular transfer students

@stahboy How could I have gotten that? I totally would have. I have nearly straight A’s and I completed other guaranteed transfer plans. Bummer

@lexluther96 TTP is something that USC offers to specific students that they reject as freshman, it’s not available to everyone. Some others have heard back (that aren’t TTP) because Dornsife seems to have released some decisions early on this year. It’ll likely still be a little while before Marshall, Annenberg, and SCA start releasing decisions.

@penntousc OH okay, thank you!!

Hi… I’ve been lurking on this thread and finally made an account. Does anyone know if you drop a class how to change it within the system? When I applied I had 3 classes I would be taking in spring and now I am taking 2. Also, I got a request for fall grades today… apparently I didn’t send them yet. Does that mean I’m still being considered? Or is that just a generic email that goes out when they see you have missing documents. Thanks and good luck everyone!

@fiddleleaf123 I’ve been told that you don’t have to update them as long as they haven’t asked for your updated grades, because then they would see the change.
