@mellyjune True! if I get accepted that is what I’ll do.
So is getting an SGR a message that “we want to accept you, but need you to prove it through you spring grades that you are a good choice”? Pretty much if I get straight A’s or 4 A’s and 1 B, are my chances of being accepted pretty high?
Does anyone know of anyone that got an SGR, 3.5-4.0 in the spring and then got denied?
@Skepta I would not say those myths are debunked. SGR’s aren’t really decisions. If they look at someones file and believe they need an SGR, its better to get that out ASAP since its not an official decision. For those with actual decisions, they can wait until Friday/Monday to release that. Just like those who don’t even have a chance will be rejected at the end of the month.
@tankle104 many people are afraid of SGRs because its not a straight up admission and it means an extended wait time but it really isn’t a bad thing. It also means you weren’t straight up rejected.
USC has interest in admitting you, but sort of want you to entice them with your pretty and shiny Spring semester grades. However, its hard to say that perfect grades will make you a shoe in. Sort of think of it like you’re on a waitlist. Be sure to have as good of a transcript you can possibly get, but keep in mind that thats not everything, it also depends on how many people accepted USC’s offers of admissions…
So, as a side note… for those who do get accepted and are not going to attend USC, please, as a favor to the rest of us, let USC know you will not be attending so that a potential spot can open up for someone else.
@mellyjune Thank you for your assessment. They have asked me for so many random things lol I feel like that freak that they want to admit, but are really nervous about haha.
they’ve asked for:
My hs transcripts, which are horrific cause I didn’t care at all during that period lol literally graduated with a 2.0, but at least it makes me look dramatically better. I now have almost a 4.0 in college.
a written statement about why and what I was doing when I wasn’t attending school after high school.
Now SGR haha
JUST LOVE ME DAMNIT AND ACCEPT ME… and give me a full ride
@tankle104 they haven’t contacted me once… there were some technical difficulties with my app though after it got submitted (no fault of mine, it just didn’t download fully or something… like WOW what a bad sign… and so typical that it would happen to me), but I’m really nervous because it either means i’ll get admitted right away (yay! please…) but time is running out slowly… or they’ll just reject me straight up but I’m trying not to worry because i have really high stats and i thought my essays were really good…
Like I know that decisions are still coming out, but if you look at past threads, a lot of the acceptances towards the end for schools like Dornsife, were for people who had gotten SGRs… but then again, I just need one package so…
in other words, I’m losing my mind but trying to convince myself I’m not (I’m completely sane!) but then making myself go even more crazy trying to hold on to all the marbles that are just spilling out of my head.
@mellyjune I feel your pain. What sucks even more for me is that UCLA is so enticing. I am (as most are on here) someone who likes direction in life…I don’t like to be in limbo. I have a school offering me a place to live, three meals a day, an AWESOME transfer environment (they even have a transfer frat), and all of it for the low price of $10k a year TOTAL. On top of all of that my internship is up in limbo (they want me from (June-September) and I am sitting here telling them to please wait.
If I don’t get a decision by this weekend I am going to assume the worst and just commit. @penntousc@pomeranian4rich and @jonathaanv will be my mortal enemies. lol
have any SCA applicants gotten an SGR?..i did some poking around in old threads, and it seems like the people who were accepted to SCA never got an SGR. additionally, the earliest result from an SCA acceptance i’ve seen (so far) was May 20th (w/ the decision postmarked around the 15th, 16th or so)… so chances are, they are starting to comb through our apps now! (even tho it’s still possible we could be waiting much longer)
just wanted to share!
@tc20498 Haven’t received anything yet! I know of an SCA applicant getting an SGR and later accepted (in July). Hope we will be receiving decisions soon, but I think we are most likely the last to hear back.
