@SmokedHam Well I was accepted and alot of us on this thread will be accepted too becuase the people on here are the ones who really care about getting into USC, and those are the people who end up getting admitted.
@cool786 Awesome! SO you did an additional physics class that you won’t have to take at USC (hurray to that) and you are more competitive than those who didn’t.
Trust me, most of us are aware that the majority will get rejected. SOOOOO painfully aware. There are many ways to say something without coming off as rude or speaking in a manner that can be misunderstood to be rude by several people.
This is a very sensitive time so let’s just be careful to stay positive and supportive all the way up to the end.
Good luck to all of us who are still waiting to hear back and a very warm congratulations (and some… alot… of jealousy hahaha) to all those who have been accepted.
@mellyjune how is the fact many get denied considered rude? I mean you just said you’re "painfully aware. Let’s move on from this silly convo
@SmokedHam It was your delivery I was referring to. Not your message.
@wiiizard Congrats!!!
Is this the first non-CS Viterbi acceptance on this thread? oh boy :-SS :-SS
@InTheNightSky95 My Friend got into Mechanical yesterday.
@itslife123 My major is in the same department as Mechanical. I hope they save a seat for me :’)
@itslife123 Yea I did an additional one, but I didn’t to a required one as well(waves/optics), thats the problem haha.
@SmokedHam No-one likes you. We’re here to be positive, not condescending smart asses.
my friend got in as a communication major yesterday =.=
So is Viterbi sending admissions in waves based on your specific major? I see CS was first and then mechanical. Hopefully industrial comes soon.
This fiasco reminds of a cringe moment that happened in one of my classes at a CSU. There was this guy who was the biggest jerk inside and outside class and he seemed oblivious. I tried to be nice to him one day after class and asked what he thought of the midterm. He said was super easy and that only a "dumb*** " would struggle. After I told him it was somewhat difficult, he scoffed and rolled his eyes. I just laughed it off and walked away. The proceeding week after we received the results and I got a perfect score and he got a C- (I sat adjacent to him in class).
From the first day of class, he progressively got worse, would make condescending remarks, tasteless jokes, etc. Until one day he proceeded to directly imply my professor was fat and needed to go on a diet. He ended getting put on blast by my professor and his response was “oh… I’m sorry, I’m sorry… I’ll shut up now”. Then the next day he continued to proceed with his behavior and ended getting kicked out of the class :)) . Moral of the story is it costs nothing to be nice. You don’t know what people go through on a daily basis and should treat them with respect and dignity. If you are unable to disguish between moral and immoral behavior, you should NOT be attending USC let alone applying.
I think we’re all aware of the crazy stakes, especially since for a lot of us, this isn’t our first time applying to USC. I’m applying for the second time and I’ve seen plenty of people on their third tries. It takes a lot of stamina and guts to put yourself through this process, and the people on here are driven, dedicated students who care about USC and have worked hard to get there. So yes, rejection is part of it, but no need to shove harsh reminders in the faces of those who have put their hearts into their coursework and their essays trying to prove that they belong at USC as much as they know they do. We could all be future classmates, so what’s the point of tearing down people you may need in the future?
@dvalenc7 That is just freaking Funny.
Accepted applicants: congratulations!! Can you guys see the date on the restrictions area in Oasis?
Admissions decision updated on Portal and it took 3 days.
My portal also updated, but no financial aid just yet.
