USC, you are my only hope now. I got rejected by Emory and UCLA today.
I am missing the second english class for UCLA and I am applying as a rising junior to Emory’s business school (they prefer rising sophomores) so I know what the major reason is but I still feel so disappointed.
Got into UCLA today! USC is my priority, but getting into UCLA as an OOS applicant makes me feel good! Plus, I just found out that they gave me a really nice financial aid package for being an OOS student. It is actually an option for me, even with that nasty tuition. At least I have an option available to me if USC doesn’t work out. Hoping for a wave of decisions soon!!
somehow got into Emory today, fingers crossed for SC too! Rly hoping decisions come out on Friday at 5:20 PST, that’s when my TTP friend got hers earlier this month!
talked to my cc counselor today and she said a big wave of decisions will most likely come out this friday the 26th. usc likes to release decisions on friday because they get tons of calls and emails over the weekend after decisions are released
@nanavn There are two main reasons why I prefer USC:
I like the way that USC’s political science program is structured. They changed it a few years ago and it is very unique compared to the typical poli sci program found at other schools like UCLA. It really caught my attention when looking at different schools.
USC meets full-need. If I get in, I am likely to be offered a much better financial aid package than UCLA. I am very grateful for my UCLA financial aid though considering I was not expecting to receive anywhere close to the amount that I did. The UC schools typically offer terrible aid to OOS students, so it is a big surprise.
@Vegastransfer I totally agree with you. I heard from the Dean at my community college that employers really like USC students because USC teach practical skills. And UC tend to focus on theory. It does not mean USC is better than UC but it is true that professors in private school interact more with their students.
Btw, what is OOS?
I apply to USC Marshall and I really hope I can get in.
@nanavn That’s interesting. My cousin goes to usc law school and just recently got a job offer at a really competitive and well known law firm in LA and he told me he was the only usc student there. The other 4 spots were ucla students.
