@FemmeFilmFatale did you fill out the Css profile?
@dodgers2235 I’m an Annenberg applicant and haven’t gotten an SGR. There’s been absolutely no activity on my portal
@transfer4maria Normal recommendation is 16 units, but you can register up to 18 units. Beyond that, you need approval from your department.
Yes I got a spring grade request for Annenberg
@daniiellesara mine too! It’s stressing me out!
I just got a WGR, I’m a Junior with over 70 units. But it doesn’t make sense since I am in the semester system. Does anyone know if its likely to get an SGR after a WGR? Does getting a WGR affect when I get the decision? Honestly I can’t wait… to get rejected.
@rish68 Did u get ur decision
Haven’t check this forum for 4 days. And wow I can’t believe nothing happened.
@dodgers2235 I applied for annenburg too, no SGR or any signs of life on my portal
@jvroomsc Yeah but I didn’t submit any papers with it. I submitted a lot of documents in FAST though. ??♀️
I just remembered that I am supposed to leave tomorrow morning for Pride Admit Weekend/Bruin Day at UCLA. They totally paid for my flight and everything… My emotions are conflicted lol. I feel bad going knowing that I already submitted my SIR to USC, but I would also feel bad if I don’t go because I wasted their time and money.
@vegastransfer What is your major? I could provide you some suggestions in choosing between USC and UCLA.
Portal still no decision. Marshall junior applicant.
@sagaciousforever Political science. I already SIR’d to USC. As much as I would love UCLA for my major, I am an out of state student. They can only offer so much in financial aid. I would go $12k a year in debt for UCLA (and that just covers tuition, not other expenses) vs graduating debt-free from USC (with all expenses covered).
I don’t know whether to cancel the trip to UCLA or just go. I am conflicted lol
@studentransfer no need to be bitter. We’ll all get our decisions one way or another, you don’t need to make other people feel bad about their accomplishments.
@vegastransfer I see!
If I were you, I would pick UCLA. UCLA has a better political science program. But if money is the case, go for USC!
I would go to Bruins Day to get a sense of how you feel about the environment and the people. After attending Bruins Day, you never know if you will change your mind. Also, it’s a free, once in a life time experience, so why not?
@sagaciousforever I know what you mean. UCLA’s poli sci program is one of the best in the country. I would LOVE to go there. Money is definitely the biggest factor for me though since I am low-income. UCLA offered $30k in grants (which is a LOT for an OOS student) and the $12k in loans covers the rest of my tuition. That leaves me with $0.00 for living though. I would need to work full-time to not be homeless, and I feel that would be rough with the quarter system that UCLA uses.
@jkwizzle We got 0 financial aid. Have to pay everything out of pocket.
What data backs up the statement that UCLA is better in Poli Sci? What experience? Why do you think that? The rankings I see all put USC ahead of UCLA in Poli Sci. UCB is a ranking spot ahead of USC. Also, he is getting an elite private education cheaper than big public U. He will have many options and resources available to him at USC that he won’t at UCLA.
@vegastransfer you have made a great choice, and having UVA and UCLA as an option as well says a lot about you. Congrats. You might as well still go since expenses are already paid, not going isn’t going to save them anything at this point. Ya never know, something may happen to sway you or confirm the choice made, it’s a win-win.
for UC poli sci departments, it’s generally: UC Berk >= UCSD > UCLA
if im not mistaken
