2019-2020 USC Transfer

did any Viterbi decisions come?

I’ve got zero EFC and make about 10k per year #BROKE. I hope they give me enough that I’ll pay at max 20k per year. I’m definitely going to work part-time while at school and full-time in the summer. Hopefully, if I rack up 40k of student loan debt I can pay it off by the time I graduate.

One of my family members owes me 13.6k I loaned to them so I hope they pull through and pay me this by the time I graduate. I didn’t exactly make a contract and notarized it so hope they don’t go back on their word as getting this money back would mean I’d pay 26.4k instead of 40k.

“Individual awards will vary depending on your financial aid package and/or the number of qualified applicants. Receipt of award monies may alter the allocation of funds within your financial aid package. For example, a student’s previously-awarded grant amount may decrease in some situations. Scholarships awarded may only be used to replace University tuition costs and may not be used to cover housing, books, fees, or meal plans.”

I was basically told this when I applied for the Topping Scholarship, but this words it better than I could ever hope to. I was told the typical award was approximately 5K and that if I received the scholarship, USC would likely do something such as adjusting my university grant.

Have any Dornsife still haven’t heard back yet?

@90smix Me.

@CADREAMIN @zettasyntax Thank for the information! I’m going to do that calculator later this evening with my parents. I was wondering about FA so, hopefully this can give me a better perspective. It makes sense for them to do that but, still wanted to ask!

I’m assuming the same happens with a CalGrant?

@FemmeFilmFatale What do you mean about the CalGrant? I actually lost my CalGrant eligibility during my senior year. Maybe getting a summer CalGrant exhausted my remaining eligibility? USC actually increased my university grant award to make up for the amount I was no longer receiving from the CalGrant. That’s something I noticed (at least in my case). USC is pretty consistent with the amount of aid they give you.

@FlashyT Yes, all schools accept appeals, I have a friend who appealed successfully about a rejection. He is a freshman, Dornsife.

@kcasssuu What was his basis of appeal?

Does USC have waitlist for transfers as well? I’m a Dornsife applicant.

Does anyone know when SCA releases their acceptances?

@tuanledang1120 No they don’t have a waitlist. That’s why they have the Spring admits position. It’s kind of their version of a “waitlist” I guess if you want to think of it like that except you’re in.

hello, just wanted to say that i know three people who have gotten in

  1. 3.8, dornslife poli sci, first year, ttp, 34 units
  2. 3.8, marshall business, first year, ttp
  3. 4.0, marshall accounting, first year, ttp

all from a southern california community college

everyone else i know are on the sgr list

So based off what @heyigotnoclue said, looks nothing from USC might either be a bad sign or they just didn’t get to our apps yet

Likelihood of SCA (or anyone!) hearing back tomorrow?

@Becausethety i dont think its a great sign though… all three of them are going. and on top of that, they got their acceptances (according to the 3.8 guy) they got it a month ago and applied on the deadline date ;-;

If I’m not mistaken, non-TTP applicants have also received acceptances May 1st and May 17th… So I think if you’re a Marshall of Dornsife applicant and havent heard back, it may not be a good sign…

If I remember I caught people from USC Marshall looking me up on LinkedIn mid-April. I think you guys are right about it not being a good sign, thing is though that I’m still doing some of the requirements right now. So why would they not ask for a SGR?

We don’t know until we know… I know someone from last year who applied to Dornsife. She got the acceptance on May 31st about 3:30pm via USPS

SGR are what i like to call teeter-totters - u are at the edge and in a certain pool, one randomly may get chosen - but then again, this is just a theory
