I’ve been lurking on here for a while but I was accepted!!! Can I get added to the group chat?

GPA: 4.0 at California Community College
Major: Biology
EC: 2 Summer Research Internships (Wet Lab Research), Academic Tutor (at my school and private tutoring), Retail Job, TA for Bio Class, some other small thing (clubs etc.)
I think my essays and LOR sealed the deal. I worked really hard on my essays and got a lot of feedback on them. Also, my LOR writers knew me well.
If you want to go to Stanford, definitely apply! I thought I was for sure going to get rejected but it worked out. I submitted my app at the last minute on a whim. Don’t let your imposture syndrome block your chances!

Hi guys, congrats on getting accepted! Does your acceptance letter state how many out of how many applicants got in this year?
@teenybee I was curious about that as well, but they haven’t told us anything about the # of students of admitted yet, nor is there anything posted about it online (for reference, pretty much every other top uni I looked at posted info on the number of transfer admits almost immediately after decisions went out or at least shared the % in the acceptance letter). Stanford said something in the past about no longer being interested in publishing admission rates, but they also mentioned something to the effect of those rates being calculable anyways (which really doesn’t seem to make any kind of sense, but you can read about it here: https://www.forbes.com/sites/willarddix/2018/09/03/stanford-will-stop-reporting-its-admit-rate-does-it-matter/#3929b18e5907).
There are roughly 20 of us in the group chat atm. Either we can assume this is the majority of admits (as the total # has been somewhere between 20-40 students altogether in the past). Or this is a paltry fraction, and they did indeed admit 3x the usual # of students this year. Its anyone’s guess at this point.
Suffice to say, at the moment, transfer admits know no more about the % than anyone else.
However, in the latest email we received, the school said we would be provided a contact list for all the transfer admits. That should probably allow us to gauge a rough estimate as to the % when it becomes available. I’ll post here about it if there’s anything to be known.

That’s really interesting. Could you also tell me if the majority of you are from community colleges (i.e. is there a higher chance of being admitted if you’re from a community college or a 4-year university)?
