@penmom222 shout out to soccer mom!! How I miss those days, and our team parents. We always were lucky to have awesome teammates and parents too. My d stopped playing travel soccer junior year, focused on her gpa for colleges!
Thank you very much for your mention of my d, when this is all over and done (with an admit ?) I will have to show my d how many really thoughtful and nice people were rooting for her success and for the others waiting here together
This psu process is mystifying for sure, seems to actually be random as u report
So nice to hear about your support for we who wait !
@ziveli513@MyaCocoa and everyone else waiting. I too check back on this discussion hoping you get the good news soon. It will probably take some time to shed the frustration and emotions of waiting, Just to reiterate what I shared before, our experience with PSU since the decision was received is very different from the admissions process. The University team is responsive, professional, and organized. When (not if) your D or S is accepted, PSU will be a great experience!!! Very much looking forward to a positive outcome and end to the wait for you!!!
to quote @vamom4
“I am actually thankful. I feel like we dodged a bullet on this because the whole debacle makes me cautious about the bureaucracy of the university in general.” Bingo !!!
I took some flack 2 weeks ago for calling out PSU’s admissions personel, and while yes each person that works there may be a nice and upstanding citizen in their private life, once they set foot in that PSU building they become what I called them before.
No matter how you slice and dice it, this is a partial reflection of how things are at PSU and dare I say in a very poor state of affairs when the top brass and the below staff keep hiding behind BS smoke and mirrors rather than coming out admitting there was a big problem, and no real fix has been implemented. The radio silence is deafening and as a public institution it is disgraceful, especially to those whom are still awaiting an answer.
Despite having moved on ( DD Nursing accepted CWRU, Drexel, MiamiU amongst others), to all those EAs still in limbo or those whom were rushed and shut out of UP, I empathize with you, share your frustration and anger toward PSU, its non academic staff and admissions process.
Com’on PSU, stand up and have some balls, a “mea culpa” and clear strategy moving forward would be the right thing to say and do. This has been another, albeit small, stain on your not so shiny armor.
As @MYOS1634 pointed out, this year is NOT the same as last year. Last year, the priority decisions went a few days over. 15 days is unheard of. Those waiting for decisions in March last year had applied long after the priority deadline OR were International students who have a different timeline.
I’d be calling and talking to every supervisor I could at this point. Doing nothing just lets them think there are no consequences to messing up this badly.
I love Penn State and we are a family of alumni and current students, but if this happens when my daughter applies in 2 years, Even I would tell her to move on…
@penmom222 and @pama3115 Just to be clear and fair to @ziveli513 who is in a different boat entirely, my son was wait listed for UP in January. I keep checking here because what happens with the rest of the applicants affects the wait list. I also check for @ziveli513 and, well, because I can’t stop! Fair is fair and this is crazy, regardless of the effect on us personally. I also love a good mystery and this is one!!!
My daughter applied priority in November and still “under review” for a first decision 8-|
Accepted to U of South Carolina yesterday and Arizona State last month.
@3MomSC I’m sorry to hear your daughter is waiting but I’m very glad to hear from you!
Congrats on your offers, helps doesn’t it
I was starting to feel like it really is just my d and annao2019 who are still under review and no first decision !
Have you called admissions since 1/31 deadline?
I called last Friday, at least I know application is in order
But it made no difference , no decision yet obviously
Imo it doesn’t help to call admissions beyond verifying applications ok, I think the supervisors have hands tied.
And I’m guessing we aren’t alone so why would pressing for a decision make any difference?
Should I call every day? I just can’t see that Would help and really why should it
We are still hopeful but also not stressed any more because we can wait until April 30 to commit
Something is out of wack
No new decisions posted lately at all
@myacocoa yes, but rooting for him to get off the waitlist . Doesn’t make sense to start a waitlist so early. Hoping the best for him, and so glad he has another option that he’s ok with.
@ziveli513 yes I absolutely miss soccer and the whole experience. Travel soccer since age 7 ., and HS . Doesn’t want to play competitively in college, but looking forward to intramural for fun! Other child played forever, too… played 2 years in college and just stopped so he could concentrate on major/internship etc. it was taking up too much of his time. Sad it’s over, but glad he made a mature choice
I have not called, primarily b/c I have been following here and have seen others are waiting also. If we dont hear by next week I probably will, but agree it probably wont really help… good luck to all!
@vamom4 That’s what I was trying to figure out: What will they learn by stalling? Do you think that enough kids will accept now, or go to the trouble to write and decline, this early? I mean, I wish it were true. But I feel as though those who do so this early aren’t going to make a dent in the numbers. At least not the dent PSU needs.
Not calling admissions again, can wait until April so we are not stressed.
Leaning more to Pitt each day, researching, finding all appealing, found Pitt has dental school too, my d is thinking orthodontist. Or oral surgeon! She can do it, smart and hard working
Blessed, world is her oyster
Just curiouser and curiouser as to why psu stuck
Anyone else EA still waiting? Priority review applied by 11/30?
I wonder how many…
Thanks @MYOS1634
Do you have any other sources besides cc for how many may still be waiting EA and priority review by chance?
Do any veterans?
I asked admissions counselor, when I called, she said “many” and I said thousands deferred 12/22, she agreed but didn’t elaborate
Are there a 100, or more? How many got wait listed I wonder too
Knowing numbers waiting still could help clarify situation
but maybe not. I’m mystified and searching for info just out of intellectual curiosity at this point since we can wait personally until April
So unusual to be clueless still by all accounts, not the norm for psu admissions after all
Though certain psu admissions policies can be unfair, imo, this seems beyond, though it’s still a result of their own admin it seems
And i stand corrected about 2022, I did go back and read more thoroughly, nothing like 15 days missed deadline for priority review.
@ziveli513 Penn State students Facebook page has only 5000 students enrolled. Two years ago at the end of January, there were over 9000 enrolled. I kinda take it as there might be many students yet to hear a decision or as many have said there were many students who applied that have no intention on enrolling
