2023 PSU Waiting for Decisions

Hi all! Same acceptance package timeline here-my D was accepted 11-27 and received her packet in the mail today, 12-3.

I have middle of the road stats for UP not worried I’ll get in just worried about when I will hear from them with so many people in this chat have already heard. I applied on August 2nd and Penn State has been my number 1 forever. This wait is causing so much anxiety.

@nittanylion1510 , the posters on this board represent only a small portion of the total. Please don’t feel too discouraged. Many applicants with a variety of backgrounds and abilities haven’t heard back yet. High stat to low stat. At least you do t have to wait until Jan 31 like in previous years.

I agree with @Sophley , the more I look at the decisions thread, the more I become more anxious about my own application. 2 people in one of my classes just got accepted on Saturday and I’ve been obsessively checking the portal ever since, even more than usual.
I have a relatively high sat (1460) and good grades ( I was living abroad until senior year), but I keep second guessing myself and I hope to god that these next two weeks just pass by fast!

Yes, we are still waiting too, applied second week of August
Two of my d closest friends accepted who applied in November :frowning:
She’s too busy doing calc to check portal, I check once every morning now
We wait together, take heart, we will have an answer soon

Still under review (SUR) as of this morning. CC makes me anxious too @crudis2001 .

Although, one of S19’s good friends was just accepted to UP late last week. And that friend has a parent who holds a high academic position at our local PSU branch campus. And it was never a given that the friend would get accepted to UP. So there you go. Everyone waits.

Has anyone recd decisions for CS engg program yet in UP?

@ppxyz123 We haven’t yet but saw one high stats poster on these threads who did. Just not seeing much action yet for CS majors.

@sophley my other two sons attended Psu, one schreyer dorms, other Pollock, as I was never a fan of East. Now my 3rd needs to put in housing request (I know he gets first dibs regardless) and I’m deciding between East renovated or single in South, does anyone here have specifics on best picks now with the NEW renovations?

@amomoffour That is the million dollar question! My daughter loves the convenience of South (Atherton). She has friends in East and thinks the new and/or renovated dorms are amazing … I don’t know what I would counsel an incoming freshman. Does your 3rd like shiny new? Or is walking downtown more important? Can he deal with heat and fans or is A/C more important? Does location convenience make up for older dorms? Will he take the loop or not his thing? Is he ok eating in the same dining hall or is he a guy who likes variety and options (HUB, downtown, etc.)? Does he want to be with all freshman or is a mix of freshman and upperclassmen ok?

Those are some of the questions I would talk about… and maybe go up some cold morning and have him walk from East to Sparks at 8:45am and see if that is a problem or not. Or walk home from Hammond at 10pm after a meeting has ended and see if that bothers him.

@amomoffour East halls are probably the best in my opinion. My brother is currently in one so I’ve been there multiple times. Personally I compare it to a hotel room that’s how nice they are.

@amomoffour , I would say East by far. Renovated dorms are like a hotel. Yes it’s a longer walk to classes, but it will keep that freshmen 15 at bay. Besides my daughter said her Pollack friends wished they were in East with all the freshmen. Pollock’s rooms are mostly configured with beds in an L shape, so one roomie sleeps with someone’s foot by his or her head. It’s dark with low ceilings and no AC. Pollock has better food and that food court is open more often. South is nice but the renovated singles in buildings like Chace are reserved for upperclassmen (at least it was a few years ago.). That being said, your kid will likely love wherever they end up because it’s their first year away from home.

Anyone else get this message?

@hunchojack I’m getting the same error message. This seemed to happen after midnight this past Saturday right before a wave of decisions. My concern, though, is that the image changed to the Nittany Lion. I’ve read that a few years ago this could be an indication of a non-UP campus. I’ve also read that isn’t the case any longer but I’m not sure if it’s just part of the error or something more? Do you still see Old Main image or Lion?

Getting the error message over here too!

Got in fine and it still says: ā€œYour application is currently under review. We have received everything required to complete your application. Once a decision is made, it will be posted here.ā€

@Shae1611 The photo I see with the error message is the UP Nittany Lion Shrine instead of Old Main.

Portal works fine, got in right away and it still says: ā€œYour application is currently under review. We have received everything required to complete your application. Once a decision is made, it will be posted here.ā€ like @vamom4 does.
@InfiniteWaves, looks like you and others with the ?error? and different photo are about to get an answer… good luck !!

We are also getting the ā€œSorry we are unable to retrieve your application details ā€œ this morning…

@2019gradsmom What image do you see? Old main or Nittany Lion Shrine?
