2023 PSU Waiting for Decisions

Kudos on the language prowess.

I do believe he’ll get in. So he’ll have two choices. And perhaps 3? But…I’m very much of the ā€˜two safeties, three matches’ school of thought  because I’d be to nervous otherwise!

I was just trying to find a way to make this better. I hope he’s okay, because it doesn’t make sense that he’d be waitlisted and he may be puzzled or hurt. You’re right, he made the choice to cut his list to three and he does have one acceptance he likes a lot. If he changes his mind and wants to add one more, he’s got a couple more days. If he’s fine as is, all is good - he’s got a university he likes.

My son was waitlisted for UP this evening. He’s been accepted with financial offers to Michigan State, WVU & Texas AM for engineering. It will actually cost us less to send him OOS than to PSU. While I am disappointed for him, it will make the decision process a little easier. Good Luck everyone!!

@ErRnMom Did your son check the box for Summer start? Curious to know. We are still waiting for engineering as well. Already accepted with substantial scholarship to WVU that makes it less expensive than nearby Rutgers.

We are waiting for engineering also at Penn state. Got into WVU and University of South Carolina with great scholarships quite sometime ago. Got into Ohio State and waiting for scholarship info. Those accepted to WVU and decide to go there keep in mind the awesome honors dorm.I am from WV. Wish everyone the best of luck with Penn State and your final school choice.

I’m curious, where did everyone else apply and get accepted? I’m hearing lots of Rutgers, Ohio State, Michigan, etc

@spqr70nj I don’t think he did. Ironically UP is closer to us than any of the other campuses.

We visited MSU last week & they said applications were up 10K this year. I agree with some of the posters regarding the common app.

Hey not that most of you dont know this, but DONT accept the waitlist because exactly ZERO people were accepted from the waitlist last year. So just accept the best offer you have, which, IF you are applying to PSU is probably pretty good. PSU wasnt our daughters top choice (maybe 3rd) but the process has soured her to the point PSU isnt even on her sonar. Anyhoo, she will probably decide around FEB 18, when all the honors decisions come in. So PSU still has a chance I suppose.

i already accepted waitlist…what do i do? PSU is one of my top schools

@lm3232 to answer you, d fortunate to be accepted as chem major to Ohio state, Clemson, univ sc, Rutgers, Drexel and Pitt last fall
We are pa, so penn state and Pitt now tied for 1st choice. Waiting to hear from psu since 8/15
We wanted to have options just in case PSU didn’t work out , good thing!
U?

@cml123 Nothing wrong with accepting the waitlist. This year is much different than last year, and it’s possible that many people may be accepted from this waitlist. If you don’t hear back from PSU by May 1, you will need to deposit at a school to which you were accepted.

Do you guys think if you applied EA and didn’t get waitlisted tonight that theres a good chance you will get in???

@ErRnMom if MSU is up by 10k that means 43000. When my son applied last year it was 33k.

PSU has two engineering schools technically?

@airway1 That sounds about right. It’s a beautiful campus, reminded me a lot of PSU, only flatter.

Hello everyone - do we get an email notification before the admissions portal is updated? Or does the email follow after the site has already been updated?

@LM3232 My son applied to and got accepted for Biomedical Engineering to Arizona State University, University of Arizona, and West Virginia University. Now just waiting for #1 choice Penn State University.

@Appstats hello back :slight_smile:
no email notice, portal updates when decision is made and then up to a Week later notice comes through postal mail

@LM3232 my son has been accepted to WVU, MSU, UAlabama, and his dream school TAMU. We haven’t heard from VATech or Texas Tech yet. His intended major is Aerospace Engineering.

did anyone wait listed, apply out of state, summer start, early action and directly through them not common app? if so what message do you have? also what major did you apply??

did anyone get accepted after the waitlist decisions were released?
