Iām telling you there is good basketball in Iowa this year!
Iowa State men just beat Houston 69-41 for the big 12 championship. They were 0-18 in the conference two years ago and now beat the #1 team in the country right before the NCAA tournament.

Sad for my Tar Heels but happy for State. Playing like they have been in the ACC tourney they deserved to go to the NCAA tournament. All the UNC fans I know feel the same way. (We do not ever feel happy for that other team in the neighborhood.)

I know that you all are probably tired of hearing about basketball in Iowa from me.
It has been a wonderful year for basketball in this state. We are a small, flyover state of just over 3 million residents state wide and only 4 division 1 schools (as compared to 26 in California).
Out of the 8 teams (4 schools, both menās and womanās) we have 4 conference champs (Iowa women, Iowa State men, Drake men and women) and ISU women lost in the Big 12 championship game and will still go to the NCAA tournament. ISU women have 5 freshmen with lots of playing time, often all 5 were on the floor at the same time. They will be a force for years to come.
We are flying high now, with lots of teams to root for in both tourneys.

Just thought Iād add that NYU beat Smith in the womenās D3 championship this AM (PST).
Unfortunately, IMO, not the best brand of basketball that Iāve ever seen.

Canāt believe Texas men are a no. 7 seed. 
I canāt believe Iowa State will have to play Drake in the 2nd round. I was hoping they could both be in the Sweet 16.
