I saw the Long Beach story. I know they are just happy to be dancing.
I wish teams could stay around after they play to just soak in the experience but alas, anyone who loses is sent home.
Everyone (almost) loves an underdog story.
Watching the Michigan State vs Mississippi State game and seeing that Mississippi State uses āStateā as their nickname/logo.
What other colleges use State as a nickname? I know North Carolina State is just State or N.C. State to everyone in N.C. āStateā is more common though or at least was when I was growing up.
Is Michigan State usually known as State in Michigan?
Funny my Ole Miss husband corrects me every time I say Miss State, he says āItās just State!āā¦and Iām like, āBut which one?ā Mississippi folks donāt go out of the area much I guess.
Iām not from Michigan, but yes, Michigan State has called themselves āStateā for as long as I can remember.
Also, Penn State calls themselves State College.
Really? I thought that Penn State was in the town of State College. Maybe Iām confused on that?
Upsetā¦Duquesne over BYU!
Is that the area code? Thatās funny because Georgia Tech has some uniforms that say 404 (Atlanta area code) and all the non Tech engineers make fun of it because, ā404 - Not Foundā error code are on some of their uniforms. Edit: I just looked it up and apparently 404 Academy is the name of the organization put together at Tech to help student athletes navigate NIL
I donāt live in PA but have an acquaintance that went to Penn State and he just always calls it Penn State.
I sometimes see tshirts that say Raleigh on them but thatās not a name for NCSU.
Any Penn State connected folks care to clarify? Iām thinking itās Penn State or PSU and Stare College only refers to the town but happy to be corrected.
I got that right on my bracket
A friend from Florida kidsā went to Miss State and she called it Miss State, probably to keep us all straight as people would always think her kids were at Ole Miss and sheād say Miss STATE.
Do Florida State folks ever call FSU State?
While there are a number of āstateā colleges in Michigan, MSU is the only one that is referred to as āState.ā If someone says State, everyone around here knows itās Michigan State.
Iāve been researching and it seems the main States are Mississippi State, Michigan State, and NC State. Others like Ohio State or LSU are not called State. Penn State is not usually called State. Florida State is not called just State.
And back to basketball there was some disappointment in my house that Carolina didnāt beat Wagner by more than 28, but we got it done.
I donāt think it is often called āFlorida Stateā, just FSU. Never just State.
Colorado STate (and to bring this back to Basketball, they play in 2 hours) is only ever called CSU or Ft Collins or the Rams.
Apparently Ohio State is not called Ohio State either, it is THE Ohio State according to one of my neighbors.
