Our family from SF as well. Definitely apply to SDSU, Cal Poly SLO and Cal Poly Pomona. Lots of kids from NorCal we know love love Cal Poly SLO. Not a LAC but true college experience. Pay attention to impacted majors on applying at Cal Poly SLO.
Decent merit aid at Whitman, Puget Sound …smaller LAC type up north. Whitman beautiful but a bit of a haul. Lewis and Clark as well. Seattle U.
From a budget standpoint don’t forget travel costs. East cost can be pricey and harder at holidays. Puget Sound and Lewis & Clark are easy hops.
I have had one back in Wisco and one up in WA and our third is likely East. It has been said in our house on many a night…travel ain’t nothin. Include a few west coast so you have a good comparison. Good luck to you.
