Because they only send announcements to the finalists. I wish they let everyone know one way or another,
^Plus, if possible finalists decline their spots, they’ll be offered to another person - thus they can’t send out rejections just yet… I wish I knew if people had received invitations, though, just for peace of mind…
Hey! If a finalist wants to do us a solid and just let us know if they got an email, that would be so greatly appreciated!

Guys, I emailed them today and they said notifications would be sent to everyone, including those that advanced and those that did not. In addition, they said it WAS going out today. Not sure what’s going on.
@mammabear999 Definitely weird, but thanks for keeping us posted. It’s interesting that they’ll be notifying those not advancing, considering they haven’t in the past, but it’ll be a relief to have a set decision.
Perhaps their mail merge didn’t work. Last week when they sent out information about interviews, a few people got information late the night before with an apology about how the mail merge dropped some names.
@HurricaneH I emailed and asked when notifications would be sent/if they were rolling and also asked if only those that are accepted as finalists would be notified or if those being rejected would be notified as well, and they responded saying “Notifications will be sent later today to everyone…” and a few more unrelated things about their admissions policies and what time UT Austin is allowed to send those kinds of emails to students. Maybe they didn’t read my second question? But From their response, it seems that rejections are sent too.

Looks like they goofed. Someone must have forgotten to schedule the email or there was some technological error. If they did schedule an email, they wouldn’t have set it to go out past 11pm. I’m guessing it goes out tomorrow.

Did only finalists receive an email, or did even rejection emails go out?
Got my email at 12:04 in the morning - however, I’m on EST time, so that would be 11:05 PM CT. Rejected, unfortunately (though not unsurprising - out-of-state is a hard swing).
I’m just disappointed I don’t get to meet all of the other semifinalists. 
You all seem like such awesome people - and I imagine we’re all so different from each other. I would have liked to get to know you all. Maybe we’ll meet at UT next year?
Question for other finalists - when you filled out the form accepting your finalist spot, it said they would send you a confirmation, right? Has anyone gotten that confirmation?
