We’ve taken flights that early when we’re flying to a destination in our time zone. When we fly from CT to CA, I don’t like flying that early. A 6amET flight means it’s 3am in my destination. When you account for waking up, getting to airport and getting through TSA, it’s almost like you’ve been up since 1am or earlier.
Reporting in. I got to the airport at 4:30 for the 5:45 am flight. No one in line at security. Sailed through.
Nothing open here, not even a place to get a cup of coffee. I didn’t even see a vending machine.
Had the greatest time with my D. Slept so terrible last night.
Find a fellow traveler to make sure you are awake for boarding. Someone asked that of me one time because they said that they had fallen asleep at the gate once and woke up after the plane was gone.
Just an added note…I had a flight on Thursday from Houston to Boston and was TSA pre-check so wasn’t too worried about the security lines. Got there, the line was very, very long and no line for pre-check. Why put it on my boarding pass then?
@MaterS That almost happened to me. I never imagined I could fall asleep at the airport and miss my flight before that. When I woke up, nobody was around. I got on the plane when the gate was about to close. I guess gate agents don’t go around waking up people.
@NEPatsGirl At my airport, they sometimes have TSA at limited terminals. If I want TSA, I have to go through a different terminal.
@NEPatsGirl, so frustrating! I can’t remember what airport, but we’ve been directed to a TSA line that was a long walk from baggage check and not at all visible from the main security lines. And then there are the TSA lines that are longer than regular lines. The joy is no longer in the journey!
Our airport is smallish. It has ONE security are only. It’s not like you can searchnaround for the other shorter line one.
I have the opposite issue next week. My flight is late morning. My husband will drop me off before he goes to work…and I’ll spend about three hours hanging around an airport with lousy food options. It’s fine…I’d rather do,that than pay the ever rising parking charges for a week.
^^^ Walk some loops around the terminal @thumper1 and get some steps in for the day.
Hope you had a good time with your D @deb922. You deserve a nap when you get home!
@yauponredux They have that setup in Terminal 1 at LAX. They send you down a long corridor into a line twice as long as the first one.
