<p>my one roommate was a huge bush republican, where the other four of us were huge democrats. suprise suprise that the four of us were all a member of the college democrats and out campaigning around campus while she hid her true republican colors because she realized she had absolutely no clue what she was talking about in regards to anything. every time she tried to debate anything with us she came out sounding like a fool. we all got along great and it was nice to argue over, but it’s nothing to loose sleep over.</p>
<p>I lived in a somewhat similar situation at college two different years with two different sets of roommates. There were two singles and a common room, but the college put three girls in there, with one of them expected to sleep in the large but no-privacy common room. Both years, we assigned the places by drawing lots, with the plan of doing a mid-year switch. One year, the switch actually happened. The other year, the girl who was stuck in the common room decided she liked it that way, so we all stayed where we were.</p>
<p>Is the college going to charge you all the same housing rate, regardless of whether you’re living in a single or a double? Or is the double cheaper? If the double costs less, you may find yourselves fighting to get in it, rather than to get out of it.</p>
<p>thanks for all the advice everyone. i’m hoping the whole single/double thing won’t be an issue. but the thing about the double is that it’s just a single that they put bunk beds in. so, it would be really cramped. and the mid-year switch sounds a little tricky considering that their are 5 of us. so i guess if we go that route (we may not because it may be more trouble than it’s worth) one girl will just end up with the single all year long.</p>
<p>oh, and Marian, the housing rate is the same no matter what room you live in.</p>
<p>and, i found that other thread where people talked about how pulling straws was a bad thing. basically he said that you should sorta feel out your roomies and see who is compatible and then give them the double (if they agree). so, we might try that.</p>
<p>Yeah…I am in the same situation as you guys. I am in a five person apartment (all girls) but there is only 2 rooms. One of the rooms is a triple and the other is a double. Luckily the school charges different amounts for the double and triple rooms so everybody already knows who is living in which room. It makes the problem of dividing it already done for us. With five people in one apartment (especially the three in one room) I am sure things might get catty once and a while, but so far all the roomies that I have met seem nice and easy going. Hopefully the whole year stays that way :)</p>
<p>I’m in a two bedroom apartment with three people. One of our deciding factures, although it may seem ungair, was the fact that one roomate has a boyfriend. Rather than make her ifht to get alone time with her bf, she got the room by herself that way they wouldn’t bother anyone else and they’d still have privacy. Plus, noone has to worry about being sexiled</p>

<p>To the guy who wanted to have 5 female roomates…it would be the most AWKWARD year of your life if anything happens, so it’s not worth it.</p>
<p>for that menstrual cycle thing… you have to basically not see guys (or be affected by their hormones)… ever. It thought the same thing when I decided to go to an all girl’s boarding school… and trust me when I say it didn’t happen.</p>
<p>did no one read what i wrote? the synched up cycles thing is clearly false. The odds that your cycles would be in sync from the moment you started are significant enough that you can’t say you’re affecting each other.</p>
<p>I think the person with single should pay more than the people with doubles… I think that’s how it works in my school.</p>

<p>Person with singl pays 615 dollars and person with double pays 500 dollars… I think that would just settle problems right there.</p>

<p>they all seem pretty cool. we all have a ton in common, so hopefully it won’t be one of those terrible roommate situations that everyone supposedly has. i’m actually more excited for college now that i know them!!</p>
